PUMPKIN CARVING topslug October 30 2011, 21:58:06 UTC
[ Whether you're here to carve a pumpkin yourself, show some moral support for a friend's artistic endeavors, or just generally want to get underfoot, this is the place to be! ]

[ Grell has grabbed for himself the largest pumpkin he can carry. Which, considering he's a supernatural being, is a very large pumpkin indeed. But why is he here in the first place? He has certainly never darkened the door of the NCC before; and furthermore, would claim to feel no sense of 'community' whatever with other newcomers.

There's a complete set of carving tools arranged near his station, everything from awls to knives to delicate little scrapers. But he is ignoring them all, in favour of his chainsaw, which is making an awful racket.

Grell is here because pumpkin carving affords him a unique combination of competition, artistry - and vanity. He's carving a self-portrait into his enormous pumpkin, presently detailing his sharp teeth. However, because he is using his chainsaw, bits of pumpkin skin are flying everywhere! ]

[Reim is bringing a much smaller size pumpkin over, but before he can get to his station, his eyes fall on that... mess that he's making over there. He can't help but stare at this far, far over-reactive display of artistry at work.]

... um...

[ Grell leaves off carving for a moment, and steps back to look at his work with a critical eye. ]

PERFECT!

I'm a true artist, a ~rare~ talent, and no mistake!

[ He glances over at Reim, and clucks his tongue. ]

My, my. What a small pumpkin you have there.

[ The faint of heart might want to close their eyes. Oh, and cover their ears, too. Or just move to another room. ]

SLEEPOVER - GENERAL topslug October 30 2011, 22:09:14 UTC
[ Whatever doesn't fit anywhere else: party games, general mingling, more traditional ghost storytelling.

There are sleeping bags, blankets, and pillows spread out for everyone, and hopefully you were smart enough to bring your own change of clothes and a toothbrush. Bringing extra food's a good way of making sure you stay popular. ]

[ If you're surprised to see Yako (still) eating, you clearly don't know her very well. She's currently sitting cross-legged on the end of her sleeping bag, looking tired but in a pleasant sort of way-- she doesn't plan on participating in most of the games because she has to set up the NCC for tomorrow, and she'll need the time and energy for that. Mostly, she's keeping a sharp eye out for any signs of trouble. She's changed her clothes, at least, so she's no longer covered in the pumpkin gunk from Grell's little spree earlier.

Still, she won't mind being chatted at while she watches people play twister or whatever it is they're up to as the night winds down. ]

[Rin is also snacking here and there. She's probably going to have a headache tomorrow from so much sugar and relatively little of substance, but hey, it's fun for the moment. She scoots over to Yako in fairly short order, eying the other girl calmly and curiously.]

Not interested in games?

[ Hey, if you can't fall into a sugar coma on Halloween, when can you? Yako clutches at her belly dramatically, shaking her head. ]

Honestly? I've had so much candy it feels like I might start barfing rainbows if I move another inch. [ A gross exaggeration-- Yako's never had so much food she couldn't move-- but it's a good enough excuse to stay still. ]

SLEEPOVER - GHOST STORIES topslug October 30 2011, 22:09:35 UTC
[ This is the last thing everyone does before they go to sleep. The rules are simple: everyone starts out holding one jack-o'-lantern. When their turn comes, they have to continue the ghost story someone else started. They can't talk for more than a minute. When their turn ends, they have point at the next person to continue the story. They also have to blow out the candle in their jack-o'-lantern.

It keeps going until the room's completely dark, or until someone finishes the story.

How does the story start? Well, it's always best to go with what's traditional. "It was a dark and stormy night..." ]

PUMPKIN DISPLAY/TRICK OR TREAT topslug October 30 2011, 22:11:14 UTC
[ All the pumpkins are being shown off at the NCC, so invite your friends to come by and take a look at your masterpiece! And maybe pick up a piece of candy or five for coming in your costumes. ]

[ Yako stands at the entrance to the NCC in her costume, stifling a yawn. She has a small cauldron of candy next to her (miraculously, she hasn't eaten any of it yet) and a broom. Rather than her usual hairclip, she has a bat-shaped one attached to her hair. It also appears to be back to its usual length.

Playing the part of a good witch? Maybe. ]

[Daedalus, guilty for having no work at the hospital while he's out on probabtionary vacation, has spent an awful lot of time loitering around the center clinic these past few days, in the hours that Franz is busy up at Lion's Gate.

It isn't long sitting around the waiting room and shuffling through files and inventory, however, loitering with the doctor on duty, before he ventures out into the main meeting room to see how Yako's holiday events are coming along.

...it's charming, at least, that even some of the local neighborhood children seem to have come around for candy. He's surprised some parents have allowed them- but that's good progress, for the Party. And better that they get their Halloweening out early, and stay safely inside after siren.

Hands tucked into his pockets, Daedalus strolls along the pumpkin display, smirking at a particular carving adorned with Rabbits.

Pino's, most likely.]
