Who:
topslug, anyone at the NCC, and YOU!
When: 30th (day)-31st (day)
Where: Newcomer Community Center, Sector 4
Summary: Pumpkin carving and a spooky sleepover. Family-friendly fun!
Warnings/Notes: Besides a few scary stories and Grell mutilating pumpkins, probably nothing to worry about. Maybe.
It's proving to be a very busy weekend, and bomb scare or no bomb scare, the Halloween festivities continue. Anyone who drops by the NCC from the 30th to the 31st is more than welcome to participate in the following activities...
PUMPKIN CARVING [30th, 10AM to 4PM]
Exactly what it says on the tin. There's a pile of pumpkins to choose from; everything from tiny sugar pumpkins to massive beast pumpkins that look like they'd need a chainsaw to carve (but please don't). Long tables have been set up in the NCC's multi-purpose hall with tools for the job, and copious amounts of plastic have been laid down to catch any spilled pumpkin guts. It doesn't matter whether it's your first pumpkin or your 20th: there'll be someone to show you how it's done. Just pick a pumpkin and get cracking!
Throughout the day, pumpkin-flavored refreshments of one form or another will be provided to the guests, mostly in the form of baked goods, some of them made from the very pulp scooped out of the pumpkins themselves. Whatever isn't consumed by the pumpkin-carvers will just end up being sold to any passersby in a miniature bake sale. People may choose to bring their finished pumpkins home with them or leave them in the NCC so they may be judged for the pumpkin carving competition!

Pino SPOOKTASTIC SLEEPOVER [30th-31st, 6PM to morning sirens]
Once all the mess from carving the pumpkins has been cleaned up, it's time to buckle down for some Halloween fun! The tables will all be pushed aside to make a clear space for people to lay out their sleeping bags, while the jack-o'-lanterns carved during the day will be lit and arranged around the hall. The early part of the evening will be reserved for watching classic horror movies, parlor games, and eating spectacular amounts of junk food. Basically, good times for everyone.
To wind the night down, the last game to be played will be a variation of
a traditional ghost story game-- everyone takes a turn telling a part of a single ghost story, and once they're ready to pass their turn on to the next person, they'll have to blow the candle of one of the jack-o'-lanterns out. The game ends once everyone's in complete darkness... and what happens after that, well, who can say?

Larry Butz TRICK OR TREAT/ PUMPKIN DISPLAY [31st, 10AM to 3PM ]
The windows of the NCC have been blocked out to give the illusion of night-time-- there's even a fake moon hanging in the "sky." The jack-o'lanterns have been arranged along a path that winds around the hall, providing the only illumination in the room that's been arranged to look like a haunted pumpkin patch, fake vines and all. A hidden speaker quietly plays the sound of rustling grass and cricket chirping, punctuated by the occasional distant howl or ghostly giggle. At the end of the day, the winning pumpkins will be announced, and a small prize (candy, naturally) given to the winners. Anyone who drops by the NCC in costume will also receive candy!
