[ It's been a little difficult lately to throw her all into patrol. Saving people is still its own reward, yeah, all that is still true. But it's lost some of the adventure. And even though she's spent more time alone in the Port than patrolling with that large, black shadow, she feels its absence twice as keenly as she ever had.

She takes more pauses, and this is one of them. A small, brightly-colored crouch at the edge of a spire, gazing through the night. You can't see much, you never can, but you can listen. The monsters out here all have their own ways of announcing their presences. ]

[He comes to the edge of a roof and looks around, his gaze at last landing on a spot of bright color. A bird, perching on a spire. The sight brings neither joy nor hatred to his heart.]

[He waves.]

[ It doesn't take her long at all to spot him, and the mask is, -- well, curious. She's never seen it before. So what is there to be but curious? So she cocks her head, waving back. Tentatively, but fearlessly. ]

[He beckons her over to the roof, unable to make the leap to the spire himself. Then he backs up as a sign that he has no intention of attacking once she lands.]

[It's late, after midnight, and she's headed across the rooftops towards home or...somewhere. She doesn't know anymore. Goddamn vigilantes. She can't just deal with normal people any longer, can she? Her shoulder still hurts where Jason stabbed her, even if it's mostly healed, and she holds it loosely as she walks.

A mild shriek from an Icarus Winged makes her stop.]

Shit.

[She pulls out her shotgun and turns, waiting for the beast to come close. And then she fires, taking its head off. The corpse hits the edge of the roof and then drops onto the fire escape below. She holsters her weapon and leans against the door to the stairs. Just a minute and then she'll keep going. This shoulder hurts more than it should.]

[He leaps over to the roof where the Icarus Winged had been and pauses as it drops out of the air.]

Nice shot.

[He holsters his own guns and moves towards the young woman. Re-l.]

You are hurt.

[She nearly draws her gun again when he appears, wary of the black cloak. Instead, she occupies herself with her shoulder.]

It's fine.

[She looks over at him, straightening.]

You shouldn't sneak up on people at this time of night. Someone's going to mistake you for a monster.

I apologize.

[He steps in closer.]

Have you properly dressed the wound?

[ Nights in Sirens' Port were when both the exceedingly brave and inherently stupid came out to prowl. Today, Damian spots a fine example of the latter in the form of a desperate thief, trying with all that he has to break into one of the locked cars. His hands are shaky, inexperienced. He's also taking too long. It's generally inadvisable to stand with your back vulnerable at a time like this, because monsters were eager for easy prey.

Perched on a rooftop above, Damian rolls his eyes. He hates bringing in simple thieves. It feels like such a waste of time. However, once he hears the low, rumbling growl of a creature approaching nearby, he knows it's probably time to act. ]

[The gunslinger is perched nearby, also watching the thieves, all senses on the alert. When he hears a soft growling, his head snaps up and he looks over to the lower roof across the street. Another perched bird. And an Icarus Winged flapping towards him.

He moves quickly, drawing his pistol and shooting the beast through the chest. It drops to the roof and hisses as he fires another bullet into the wax-like features.]

[ Gunshots. Instinctively, Damian gets into a defensive position, his entire body already ready to jump to shelter. However, it isn't long before he notices that the shots are not for him. The beast continues to shriek, tumbling and falling from roof to concrete. Damian immediately scans the area for the shooter.

It's that person he saw on the network. ] . . .I didn't ask for help.

And yet, you've gotten it.

[He holsters his guns.]

There is no harm in accepting aid when it is given freely.

[ Monsters he can hit. Punch and kick and work over and for once not hold back with. Victims to save are always a plus, but as a it turns out they're drawn to him whether there's already another meal in the queue or not. There's plenty to do out here. All of it's better than going home to that empty, lifeless apartment instead.

He uses the batarang to draw the eyes before he throws himself into the gap with a kick. He flips up and over and lands just before that claw blindsides him, slicing through the fabric of his sleeve and taking a good chunk of skin with it. Damn it. ]

[The gunslinger emerges onto a nearby roof, not bothering to hide, and watches Dick fight.]

[ As it turns out he's bleeding just enough to enrage the monster even further. He flips back over that swinging claw and dodges again, pushing hard through the adrenaline rush while he tries to stick another batarang into one of those extremities. On the way down he catches sight of that other figure up on the roof, too still and solid to be part of the darkness.

And finally he has an incentive to end the fight quickly. Another blow to the head and the thing's stunned enough to fall against the fall, and Robin's free to make the quick scale up towards that part of the wall. ]

[The gunslinger watches Dick keenly.]

You fight well, young one.
