There was something incredibly wrong about a boy who turned monsters to dust when he touched them. The mutate simply crumpled and turned to dust, months and even years of decomposition fitted neatly into a few moments. Bruce's eyes narrowed from his perch on the rooftop, a good distance away from the kid- he had seen him before. A Newcomer from the same world as Magneto- Michael Xavier. His name was Kevin. Kevin Ford.

The problem was that Bruce also remembered another report. Of a boy runnng away, and a dead body, a throat crumpled into dust. He tugged on his armour slightly, suddenly glad for it - Kevlar and metal, over and over. He didn't know what kind of power he had exactly, but it was obvious enough that he could deal a lot of damage very quickly. Fatal damage.

Whether or not it was deliberate was still up in the air. But right now, Bruce was banking on a 'no'.

He shot a line somewhere over Ford's head, and swung. He was taking a risk - the soles of his boots were made of rubber, and he attacked first, kicking the kid's hand ( ... )

"So tell me what happened with that man, then?" his voice had dropped to a whisper, and he pulled that hand in close - close enough that if Kevin jerk his wrist, he could touch Bruce's jaw.

Flirting with danger.

"Was it an accident? Something you regret so much you don't even bother to confess? You're not denying that it has anything to do with you, Kevin."

He stepped in a little closer, until they were barely inches apart.

"If you've confessed, your trial would be over by now. You wouldn't need to keep thinking of it.

"You're thinking about it right now, aren't you?"

Kevin kept his hand very, very still. His attention was focused on it because he would not kill. Would. Not. Not here, not now. He'd accidentally killed his father. The man in the riots had been another accident. He wasn't going to purposefully kill.

He'd tried that once and it had set uneasily with him.

"I don't know what ya talkin' 'bout. I ain't a killer." He wasn't. He refused to be, no matter what this man was trying to make him into. "Let me go."

"Did the man just keel over and died without you touching him, then?" There was just a hint of mockery in his words, and he let go of Kevin, half-turning away.

"You keep saying you're not a killer, but that's not for you to judge. Who are you to judge your actions - when they have caused the death of an innocent man?"

Kevin snatched the glove off the ground where it had fallen and yanked it on. "I dunno what happened t'whatever guy ya talkin' 'bout. I didn't kill no one." Once more wearing gloves, Kevin relaxed. He couldn't be forced to hurt anyone with the gloves on.

He stuffed his hands in his pockets and turned for his home. "I ain't killed nobody. I ain't gonna, neither."
