Afternoon, a park? southernreaper August 13 2011, 20:02:37 UTC
[The thought was aversion therapy. However with the nice weather there were a lot of people. Add in that it was hot and Kevin... stood out. Long sleeves, gloves, jeans... while most ran around in shorts and tanks. (Never mind he had the slice on his side to hide still. At least it wasn't infected.)

The hunger wasn't too bad today, and maybe being out here would give him some ideas as to what to do with the junk metal clogging up his half of the garage. At least he wasn't seeing cadavers walking past.

Getting to his feet, Kevin stuck his hands in his pockets and began walking, looking at the ground, not paying attention. Until he bumped into something.]

Oh! Beggin' ya pardon, ma'am, I weren't payin' attention. Y'alrigh'?

[Retsu was a small woman, somewhat easy to miss in groups. Or when someone's eyes were trained upon the ground. She'd stopped to admire a bit of landscaping in the park when she felt the taller form bump into her.

[She didn't stumble, her balance shifting instinctively to keep her steady.] It's quite all right, as am I.

[She noticed the odd way he was dressed, but chose not to say anything about it just yet.]

[Kevin is an awkward teenager who is still at the gangly stage of development. He's more arms and feet than anything else right now.

Bumping into her made his side twinge but he hides it because, well, nothing's wrong with him.]

M'name's Kevin, ma'am. Ya sure ya okay?

[He's trying not to ask: I didn't dissolve anything did I? but he can't just come out with that.]

[Tea shop for sure] tea_lover64 August 14 2011, 19:42:33 UTC
There was a sort of tranquility from sitting and sipping at tea. It had always been something he had enjoyed throughout his life. No matter his station in life, whether it be the prince of the Fire Nation, a general, or even a common beggar, it had always been part of his daily ritual if possible. This was a ginseng tea, the brew was relatively good, and he maintained the perfect temperature by heating the cup now and then. He was quite relaxed, and was pleased with the shop over all.

When a beautiful woman popped into view he smiled at her and gave her a small polite wave. Fellow tea lovers were always nice people to see. She reminded him a bit of some of the women in his home, both in the fire nation and in the earth kingdom. Fair skinned and long haired, carrying herself with grace and dignity. It made him wonder how Zuko and Mai were doing, well hopefully. They were a good fit for one another, and he hoped they would announce the marriage in a year or two.

Tea was a longstanding tradition for Retsu as well. Very longstanding, considering her age. It seemed that people in the Western world by and large preferred coffee, and though it wasn't terrible, she preferred tea more often than not. Perhaps in some ways she was a creature of habit after all.

She'd decided upon a cup of genmaicha today; she hadn't had it in a while. She caught sight of an elderly gentleman waving at her, and smiled. "Good afternoon."

"It most certainly is. A lovely day to sit and enjoy the sights and sounds of the city." he replied pleasantly.

He took a little breath, and enjoyed the scent of his tea wafting towards him. There were few things he enjoyed more then a good relaxing sit with some tea. Feasts were certainly enjoyable, but they didn't match the calm simplicity of just sipping at tea somewhere in a strange and new place.

"If you would care to join me, I would be most honoured by your presence." he said inclining his head.

She enjoyed it by the lake. Or perhaps it was more Minazuki's influence than anything, being that his spirit form was that of an aquatic creature. In either case, Retsu often found herself drawn to the water, particularly when she wished to commune with her zanpakutou.

She had finished her communion some time ago, but had elected to stay near the lakeside to enjoy the peace. And so she did not disturb the young man when he arrived, or even make her presence known. However, she did watch as he practiced with his blade, moving as one with the weapon. Quite skilled, this one. Far too many saw their swords as only tools, even among the shinigami. Such was a disrespect to the sword, and to their own potential. This man seemed different.

When the rain came, he happened to take shelter in the picnic area in which she was sitting, Minazuki's long, sheathed blade settled across her lap. She offered the man a nod of acknowledgement.

"You are quite in tune with your blade. That is sadly rare to see."
