All is quiet in the sleepiest sector of Siren's Port, the wildlife and farmlands gently settled into rest until dawn breaks within the next few hours. Quiet, that is, until a deafening explosion and a wave of energy that blasts through trees, sends fowl flying and horses and cattle scattering.
A whirlwind of energy approaches in a storm crackling with lightning and darkness-- a boy wielding a weapon nearly twice his size is on the move.

Those who are making the daily trek to work are in for a nasty surprise this morning: the monster has arrived back into civilization, and is leaving a trail of destruction and carnage in his wake.

This isn't the work of any of the Espada, but given how close to home it is, she can't sit this out. It's within their territory, and she doesn't want anyone in the Espada taking the blame for another's actions.
Fortunately, the trail is easy to follow and Nelliel moves quickly. She finds the culprit a few minutes later. Normally, she might try to talk things out. With someone causing this much havok, it's best to keep it brief and let her weapon do the rest of the talking. Sword drawn, she confronts him. Her tone is deceptively calm, but there's a stern quality to it.]
What do you think you are doing? Identify yourself.

[snaps back two voices, as Ventus- no, a creature, some sort of monster- hefts the χ-blade in one hand, by the side of his head. getting to the center of the city is his main priority, and, judging by the trail of destruction left behind him, he does not object to using whatever means necessary.]

[She motions to the destruction behind him.]
And if this is why you want to head to sector 4, I can't let you pass. You should surrender before I am forced to hurt you.

He can't catch his breath.
A Darkness Corridor serves as his escape, his saving grace, as he slinks behind a tidily kept suburban home, one hand planted firmly against the paneling to brace himself, χ-blade gripped tightly in the other.
The gasps come short, and frequent. Whether it was a tactical error to go through Sector 4 or not is irrelevant; he has only one shot to fulfill his destiny. Him-- Ventus. For he is no longer Vanitas; he is once again the scummy darkness that once sat dormant within Ventus.
And he has to get out of there.

In the presence of so much darkness, the neighbor's dog has slunk under the porch, growling.
Vanitas isn't the only one stubborn as anything, when it comes to coming back for seconds, for thirds.
This isn't the first time in days that he's tracked the kid down, tested every measure of his strength. The last time their blades crossed, Soul had been at his side. But by now it was just that other replica, showing a remarkable stamina ( ... )

"I'm impressed you're still alive," he shoots back, lifting the χ-blade again. Call it stupid pride, his self-preservation is screaming at him to tear open a Corridor and get out of there, but Vanitas has confidence that he'll be able to rip Joe in half and move on as planned.
He puts up a fairly good front, but his breathing is still fairly heavy with fatigue.

He readies his own blade, calling up that taut-strained anger once again. His pulse pounds in his ears, and he squints into the morning light.
"I. Won't. Quit." He spits out, pulling his arm back in sweeping momentum and springing forward, gathering an inky flame to release at Xehanort's apprentice. For a flash, on the backyard grass, it's like fighting Riku again, in front that iron gate in a strange down. "Not until you don't exist anymore, Vanitas!"

A bruised and broken boy has finally arrived at his final, and ultimate destination. In the middle of Siren's Port, his arms shaking, the monster lifts the χ-blade in the air, the end of the weapon raised toward the sky. A brief chink of light.
And you are the only one who can stop him.

It really isn't hard to find him, to track him to Sectors 4 and... Who could miss the X-Blade. He won't get very far in lifting it to the skies, either. Rainfell will see to that with a mighty strike from above. She won't let him summon Kingdom Hearts.]

[he has to hang on a few minutes longer. distract Aqua long enough so he can fulfill his purpose. so he can stay alive in this body.]
[darkness gathers at the sides of the blade-- he only has one or two shots left in him, so Vanitas has to make this count.]

As sickening as it was to see Ven's face with those horrible golden eyes, she didn't flinch. Instead she lifts her Keyblade level to Vanitas' own gathering Darkness. He can make the next move.]
