Edgeworth had suffered no love whatsoever for Redgrave. He'd thought him a fool and a coward, a man nearly worse than those will ill intentions for the way that he failed to act. Yet even so, no matter what the man had been in life, he still deserved a funeral with mourners; for all that he'd been a poor one, he was still once the governor of this island, the head of the executive branch. And, as such, he was due respects.

So he couldn't help but feel a wave of sheer anger when one of the rioters closest to the procession somehow got footing in the chaos to reach into his pants and attempt to urinate on the casket ( ... )

She hadn't know Redgrave and had never met the man, but the distinct likeness to her grandfather was something she couldn't ignore. The persistent disregard to his fellow citizens and his people had left her feeling anger for months on end. He stopped talking, stopped writing out of the office. It had been like Romdeau all over again. Re-l had been called in when they found the body. She had examined it, had stood over it and had seen the asphyxia with her own eyes. The similarities had almost been too much ( ... )

Though he was ashamed of the fact, as soon as he felt that touch, he was ready to strike a blow to defend himself. As soon as he heard that voice, however, quiet and steady even in this chaos, he calmed down.

"Ms. Mayer." He himself had to strain to be heard as he turned to her. "I'm trying to get out of this crowd; I have to - "

Someone jostled him from behind, and he took a step forward to keep his balance. Unfortunately, he took a step right into her as a result; he grabbed her arms to keep her from falling, and for just a split second he was aware of the incredible intimacy of their position...Then he regained his feet and stepped back.

"Sorry - We need to get out of the crowd. We can help better from a safe place. Are you with me?"

It was hard to hear him above the din even with how close they were standing together. She kept her hand on his arm to be sure no one else could pull him away while they were standing there.

"You're going to have a tough time that way. There's..."

He pushed into her and she grabbed his arms to steady him, keeping him close for the moment. She glanced over his shoulder to the instigator and when she was satisfied that they wouldn't cause anymore trouble, she turned her gaze back to Edgeworth's face. She gave him a brief and almost wry smile, nodding.

"Of course. There's a side street nearby, we'll go that way." She pointed to the street she was talking about. She glanced back for a moment and then took a breath, turning back to him. "You go first. I have your back."

What do you mean, I have to leave?

[Griffin is currently arguing with a deli owner. He really likes this place. They have a great selection. He had become a customer, even though the deli had unsavory AGI ties. Everything around here was tied into something, unfortunately.

But now, the deli owner, who Griffin previously got along with, was suddenly refusing to let him have anything.]

The hell are you talking about?

[Someone throwing a brick through the window interrupts the conversation. It would have hit Griffin square on the back of the head if he hadn't ducked out of the way. He runs outside, climbing over the now broken window. It seems that there's some rioting in the Port today.]

... All I wanted was a bloody sandwich.

[Sorry, really. She shouldn't have been over here in the first place. It was stupid to be out in the city while all the trouble is going down, but she had been looking for a new job and she had one lined up that... well it didn't go as well as one should have hoped.]

[Nor did the fact that after she left the little shop and headed for her bus stop was about the point in time that the fights had spilled out into the street she was on. Wonderful.]

[Oddly enough she wasn't worried about herself being hurt but more to the idea that someone would get her curse and get more hurt by running into her then they would have if they hadn't.]

[Speaking of which. Someone grumbling about a sandwich just stepped out of a broken window, almost into her. She jerked back, hands flying up as if to avoid touching the guy.]

Looks like someone else wanted one as well, or was that just a rock? [It was a tease... very tense though. The Asian girl looked a little startled but calm, clearly ready to duck off to avoid the group of people fighting near by.]

[Griffin had no idea about the riots. He rolled out of bed after his late shift, Jumped to the alley behind the deli and walked straight in. This is what he gets for not checking the NV before leaving.

He backs up as he nearly bumps into some girl. Griffin watches the chaos around them.]

Dunno why they would. Place isn't that good. [Spite, thy name is Griffin.]

So uh... what the hell is going on?

Sorry about the wait now. Had computer problems. x_x controllingluck June 10 2011, 10:28:12 UTC
[There was another crash near by as someone broke another window, stepping inside the shop to start shop lifting. If she was a hero type she might have tried to defend the place. After all, she had her blue katana on her hip anyhow, but... well... she wasn't a hero type. not really.]

[Instead she backed to the wall near the broken window, and was watching the world better before saying swiftly] Rioters.

[Only to realize that was pretty obvious, so she explained, swiftly.] The governor's funeral was today. The news said there were protesters that turned into rioters and now it seems it has broken out all over the city!

[How... did someone miss that kind of information?]

With the rioting spilling into the other sectors and almost impossible to control, Re-l left her post at the procession to try and stop any more of the fighting. Businesses were being attacked right and left and she was almost certain that there were SERO and AGI agents trying to pilfer the ranks of their opposing companies. The police were scattered to all corners in their efforts to stop the mayhem. She was just doing her part.

She couldn't stop to arrest everyone involved, though she could hear the sirens going off. She'd have to make do with what she had. She moved towards two boys making molotovs and she grabbed them both by the scruff of the necks. She threw them both into the nearest trash bins, closing the lids on them.

With a sigh, she kept going, moving to put the rioters down as quickly and as efficiently as possible.

[He was being sent all over the place; the walkie talkie on his hip blasting out orders, one after another, and it'd only been a an hour or so since this whole thing had started.

Seeing another officer, he came over after to check up after sending another group home (hopefully sending them home, at least).]

You okay?

[She turned her head when she heard someone asking after her and she visibly relaxed when she saw Jayden. At least he wasn't going to strike her over the head.]

Yeah, I'm fine. Are you?

[His talkie was going crazy. Her earpiece was blaring off orders but she couldn't be bothered with it. She had turned the volume down and had left the line open for other officers to call her directly.]

[He'd already gotten a few bruises of his own; least he wasn't bleeding. He counted himself lucky.]

Might be a little bruised at the end of the day, but not that bad.

[He glanced down at his hip with a wince as another blast of noise came from it. Looking back up, he blinked, seeing a line of text next to her name. Another blink and it was gone.]

The executives took their lunch inside as the rioting broke out and Neji worked outside through his. His vision combined with his skill set made him a perfect guard for the area; scouting out troublemakers, breaking up fights, and throwing offenders outside the sector in various states of immobility ( ... )

You do something good for someone and it blows up in your face. Soul should've figured that out by now, but like everything else it hadn't sunk into his teenage brain. Go figure. So today he'd rolled his sleeves up and had cleaned up. If there was anything, it was that he was honest and after confirming his apology to the SERO reps who had watched him clean up, he was on his merry way home.

Of course, this meant he hadn't been watching his NV and was thus unaware of the riots that had broken out over the city. He'd been pretty much minding his own business when someone bumped into him, and in the state the other person had been in and his current mood, Soul was probably this close to showing off just why he was called a Death Scythe.

God sometime his life sucked so badly.

Hostilities were at an all time high, everyone's masks stripping away to reveal an uglier facade. Neji wasn't any particular exception, taking to persecution before interrogation simply because he didn't have time to weave through lies and sort out everything peacefully.

For this reason, the person that had jostled Soul got a nice burst of chakra to the back. Th man collapsed and Neji hauled him up, glancing over at Tenten's friend. He didn't look particularly charitable either, but he seemed somewhat unaware of himself as well.

"You should be careful. The rioting has stretched across much of Sectors 1, 2, 5, and 4. Naturally, the shared border between AGI and SERO is dangerous. I'd advise heading south to Sector 3."

When the guy collapsed, Soul looked up, nodding his thanks to Neji before pushing himself to his feet - it wasn't like something simple like a shove was gonna keep him down anyway. He shoved his hands into his pockets as Neji hauled the guy up.

"Thanks for the info. Seriously, you turn your back for one minute and the city breaks out into a riot." Soul's upper lip curled into a half snarl as he turned his attention to where another fight had broken out, looking at the ninja out the corner of his eye. "Need any help?"

[Fighting and rioting everywhere, and Jayden couldn't think of a time that had ever been this bad. People upset about this guy's death, people upset about the companies possibly taking over, and those afraid about the martial law.

He'd been given the required equipment to help calm a riot, but he was hoping that he wouldn't have to use any of it. He was sending everyone he could to a safe place, but god help them in getting there.]

Go back to your home and your loved ones, please!

[ After sending an brawling woman back to her home, she turns and sees someone she might have spotted on the SPPD headquarters. ]

[He gave a tired grin; blinking for a moment as he suddenly saw letters form near her head. After another blink it was gone, but still. He must be done for the day if he was imaging things.]

I'm surprised none of them have decided to just go home. It's like they want to destroy the city.

Funny, since this place is the only home they got. [ Zoey just couldn't help reveal a little bit of her disgust - she lost her home, and was practically nomadic for several weeks until Bill decided it's the best to live in the Florida Keys. She swipes away the sweat and shrugs sheepishly. ]

I'm sorry, stuff like this makes me crabby. What's your name? I think I've seen you in the SPDD headquarters.
