4/21 Afternoon thelittlestbub April 20 2011, 16:58:08 UTC
When she'd arrived, he'd been resting. So, she'd just sat down and started fixing the hole in Franklin's shirt. It was an easy enough fix. It'd taken her this long to find the fortitude to get a babysitter for Franklin, and show up here, herself.

When he opened his eyes, she was hyper aware of it, nulling bracelets on her wrists to keep her powers dulled. Jubilee fought the tears in her eyes, and just kept on with the soothing motion of needle through fabric.

"Do you want me to bring you anything?" She asked softly.

The drugs are making him DULL, unable to watch the area as he would wish, as blind as he is. Headblind, Charles called it. It was. He startled a little when he opened his eyes to find Jubilee there.

After the exchange with Yumeno sometime this morning, he wasn't up to speaking much.

"No. Yumeno called you." It's not a question. Or at least not a question of who told her. More why.

She looked up at him, blue eyes hard but dull, as if she'd lost all emotion in the last couple of days. Her eyes lowered and she went back to repairing the hole in Franklin's shirt.

"Yes, he did." She stuck herself with the needle and hissed in a breath. "Wasn't he supposed to? Or were you 'protecting' me?" The last came out slightly bitter and annoyed.

Jubilee was getting sick of MEN deciding that she needed protecting.

"I'll be fine." Physically anyway. Somehow he always came through all right. Mentally was another story and not one he was thinking about. "No need to have worried you."

Some part of him was angry. Walter had come after him, God only knew WHY. He shouldn't have. Some part of him was angry at himself too. He'd told Czeslaw his long life was punishment. Did he think without his powers he'd be able to escape it? And some -larger - part of him was ashamed to be here.

4/21, a few hours after Jubilee's visit lets say alwaysfindsyou April 20 2011, 18:43:44 UTC
Billy had wanted to just run to the hospital and start yelling as soon as he found out what happened. But then he had to stop and just sit for awhile, partly because going in there yelling probably was not the best idea and... he also needed to seriously sort out why he wanted to run in there yelling.

He'd been living in the same building as Erik for over two months, had gotten to know him a lot better. He'd been able to see the real him (or what he believed the real him to be) instead of just the man who'd been presented in the news. He'd gotten to know his grandfather.

His grandfather. Those two words alone were enough to make him realize why he was so upset. Because, ex-villain or not, he was his grandfather.

Eventually, he'd sorted through things long enough that he was ready to go and talk to him now. A little while later and he was sitting by Erik's bed, just... watching him.

The monitors beeped out a slightly unsteady heart rate, the oxygen hissed though the tubing, the IV lines dripped. Battered, bruised, lower right leg in a cast, right arm immobilized to splint the ribs and the collarbone, both feet splinted under the blankets and fingers in splints, and more cuts and bruises than could be counted - Erik, if he didn't look eighty - could have been nothing more than a normal causality from the superhero'ing business. He'd had worse injuries before, certain. The parallel scars on his stomach attested to that.

Slowly, he blinked awake, eyes unfocused, slowly coming to realize someone else was in the room. Drugged enough as he was, he spoke without realizing who it was. "What happened to your hair Pietro? Did Wanda change it?"

Billy paused, getting to his feet and moving closer, reaching out to rest a hand very lightly over Erik's. "I'm not Pietro. It's Billy. William?"

He blinked slowly a few times. "William is just a baby."

But if the babies were born, then Pietro wasn't a teenager anymore... "How did you grow up so fast?"

One of the benefits of being friendly with Michael Xavier was knowing that he could take care of himself. It had been a relief to Griffin, who always felt like he had to protect those close to him. The old man had shown how tough he was. There was a part of Griffin that thought that Michael could truly take on anything ( ... )

His second day in the hospital. He hadn't taken the nulling bracelets off, and they had begun to chafe. A nurse had attempted to bandage his wrists, only to have Erik put up a fight about it. She'd finally gotten thin ace shelves on under them, solely because she'd promised they would relieve some of the arthritis in his wrists.

He'd heard a commotion outside, which had woken him. Pain or no, he'd refused the heavier narcotics and so wasn't as drugged as he had been the first two days. As a result he did, eventually catch the name 'Michael' and Griffin's voice.

So when Griffin stormed in, he wasn't shocked or startled. Still, he looked frail. "Out after Darkness. Smacked around by a dragon - I think. Fell down some stairs. I'm all right."

"A drag--" There was a moment of panic when Griffin thought he had done something. But no, he remembered his time as a monster. He hadn't attacked Michael. Griffin stayed close to the door, not wanting to crowd the old man. He did nothing to hide his distress, pacing back and forth. "Bloody hell."

This wasn't supposed to happen to him. Michael was supposed to be able to take care of himself. Griffin turned his back for two seconds and... He ran a hand through his hair. "'All right.' You look like shit. What were you doing out there, anyway?"

Not that Griffin had any right to lecture on that front.

"I think it was a dragon. It was dark. Out by the Lighthouse."

He didn't comment on what he was doing, not that he was sure Griffin would let it go. He wouldn't have.

"Had worse. As the X-rays show. I'll be all right, no need to worry." Funny, how he kept trying to reassure everyone he was fine. When...given everything...he knew better.

Teddy couldn't believe it when he'd first heard the news. He expected someone to tell him it was a cruel joke and that Erik was fine, going about his business as usual. It didn't hit him until he was standing in front of his hospital room that it was true.

He was surprised by how upset he felt. He'd only really known the man for a couple of months, but he'd always been kind to him and helped him out and gave him advice. He'd become like a designated parent to Teddy. He wanted to be angry and demand how Erik could do something like this when so many cared for him; but he didn't know what to say.

He entered the room quietly and sat down in the chair next to the bed. His eyes surveyed Erik closely until he forced himself to look at the floor and waited.

Drugged asleep - the nurses had quickly developed habit of sedating him after visitors to keep him calm - Erik's face twitched in his sleep, eyes darting under closed lids, muscles twitching. He mutters something, a mix of German and Yiddish but it was fairly quiet.

The heart monitor sped up for a moment, and shuddered awake, with a faint cry, gasping for air despite the supplemental oxygen, causing him to cough deeply, which hurt.

"Whose there?" He couldn't quite make out who was sitting in the darkened room. He was surprised that it frightened him.

He looked up quickly and sat up straight in the chair. It took him a minute to respond past the lump that had been forming in his throat since he'd entered the room.

"It's me...Teddy. Are you alright? Should I call the nurse?"

Left handed, Erik motioned no. The nurses would come in if he didn't stop coughing though.

Luckily, he didn't quite remember the nightmare he'd been having, although his eyes looked hollow and haunted.

Swallowing hard and taking a few slow, shallow breaths he managed to stop the coughing with a wince. "I'm all right. You haven't been there long have you?"

Czeslaw still didn't know where he stood. For the moment, right now, it was in front of a doorway. He held a small potted red poppy - the same as he'd brought Dr. Kenzo Tenma, not too long ago - a favorite of his.

He had probably shot up at least an inch since that visit to the hospital, though. He was awkward and antsy in what he felt like was a new body, and the cold stone of anxiety in the pit of his stomach wouldn't go away.

What was he doing out there? Was this really an accident?

Finally, he forced himself to take a few more steps through that door, checking to see if his 'uncle' was awake.

Morning where when he was most alert. Not because he was a morning person but because he didn't sleep well. As such, he slept more in the mornings, when the shift change nurses read the notes that he hadn't slept the night before and threatened to sedate him to make him sleep.

That hadn't happened yet. And he was trying to get out of the ICU today. Which meant he needed to be more functional than not and convince the psychologist that what happened had been a result of the overwhelming telepathy. That wasn't going to be easy.

When he heard someone stop at the doorway, he looked over, using his fingertips to raise the bed to get a look.

"Benjamin?" Czeslaw was the only person he knew that size. Even if he couldn't make out his face.

"That's me," Czeslaw said, even though, technically, it wasn't. "Are you feeling any better, Uncle Michael? I brought you these flowers. They're corn poppies." A wildflower, one that grew in abundance on the fields of his homeland, red as the colors of the flag. Czes darted away a moment to set them down. "They need plenty of sunlight, you see, so you'll have to get better soon."

Czeslaw then returned to Erik's bedside, his voice dropping so others wouldn't accidentally hear the conversation. "How are you really?" he whispered. "What happened?"

"Sound have a window to put them in soon."

Carefully, Erik shifted over to the right side of the bed, leaving a small space and patted the mattress.

"I'm all right. I've had worse. Ran up against Darkness monsters I couldn't handle, that's all." That that was the PLAN was besides the point.
