Kazuhiko had been spending the last few days doing his best to adjust to his new and strikingly more lonesome living situation. The thought of going out came to mind right at the morning sirens, a little more easily without the threat of Shinji immediately over his head. There was time to relax, and the whirlwinds of thoughts in his mind weren't do anything to help the situation. So much he couldn't do, just yet at least.

Equipped with his watch and bottle of medication, he'd sought out in search of windows to shop from. And found a few small things that seemed familiar, things that he felt he might have liked. Maybe a new set of sheets for the sofa bed here, a new wok there, a button up shirt that reminded him of one he'd had back home.

Leaving the small shop, he stopped nearly immediately in his tracks. The pack of robotic spiders wasn't something normal at all. At all. A few steps were taken to get closer, to observe the machinery and the items that they had gathered.

All of the machines were outfitted with sensory devices so he could monitor their situation. There had been some odd looks here and there, certainly, but nothing he'd been too concerned about. However, as the resources he was buying started to accumulate, he became warier - it would be pretty typical for someone to try and rob him. Even if "he" was a bunch of separate and somewhat formidable-looking robots.

So as Kazuhiko neared, the majority of the pack continued moving, but a few of the satellite spiders slowed, angling to face towards this human moving closer. They couldn't really do much anyway, but...

Formidable looking robots indeed, something that makes Kazuhiko slightly curious. Nothing like this had ever shown itself to him in his world, but there was no doubt in his mind that it had been possible then. Upon approach and the returned 'glance' from the robot, he found himself following the group without realizing. From a few paces behind, he inspected them as best he could with a stoic, somewhat empty expression of concentration. A moment was spend trying to find any visible weapons, before the mound of packages was surveyed. How could they purchase items, when there was no human to deal out the money. Could they act so easily on their own? Unlikely, it was more probable that they were being controlled somehow. Though, the world he was in was an odd one.

A consideration came to him; what if these machines were the work of the Core? Maybe keeping with them would lead him to the answers to some of his questions.

sorry for the delay, got really busy yesterday! uraniumnumnum April 3 2011, 23:04:40 UTC
All eyes were on the human behind him (or "them," rather.) What did he want? He did appear to be scoping out the pack of robots for whatever reason. Ash wasn't one to leave things out of his control for very long. Once a minute or two had passed, the machinery all suddenly came to a halt, almost all of them whirling to face him.

"What do you want?" Ash's voice patched through from somewhere on the largest robot, sounding somewhat more annoyed than usual.

And here would be Mordecai, watching from the street corner with a confounded expression on his face. What even-

He's really tempted to just take out a pistol and start shooting. c:

Oh, look, a walking cat. That could... well, it could be multiple people at this point, but Ash knew what Mordecai looked like. Charming.

The machines slow to a halt as they pass Mordecai, the large one turning towards him. And before you know it, Ash's voice is coming out of it like a walky-talky.

"What are you looking at?"

Mordecai's eyebrows knitted when they all stopped before him. A hand descended underneath the lapel to where he kept one of his pistols. He had not been reading up on his science fiction, however. So when the large one spoke, Mordecai practically jumped in surprise. Even wig his tail all bottlebrush, the expression soon went from shock to anger and then plain annoyance when he recognized Ash's voice.

"Oh, it's you, Ash, isn't it?"

"Surprised, are you?" There's a tinny laugh at Mordecai's expense when he sees that reaction. Organic creatures were really quite funny. Ash assumed that was just a side effect of being so weak and possessing such undeveloped brains. What a charming sense of humor he had. The robots remained motionless, utterly devoid of any telling movements or recognizable features. Whether the little robot army was simply standing at ease or tensing for some kind of attack was difficult to tell.

lmao she's, uh, jokerized, so... HAVE FUN WITH THAT? topslug April 3 2011, 15:12:44 UTC
With bright green hair and skin as white as though she'd dabbed greasepaint all over it, Yako was traipsing around the city carelessly, barefoot and not particularly concerned about it. Sure, she could put on shoes, but that would mean stopping, and where was the fun in that? She only paused to snag a bite or two from some of her favorite restaurants before she bolted off again, humming a happy little tune as she made her way down the street.

The glint of sunlight off something metallic caught her attention, and she pivoted, doing a double-take. She'd started seeing a lot of weird things this morning, some of them things she wasn't entirely sure were real, but this wasn't a hallucination: a pile of boxes was moving down the road! How funny! How weird!

How perfect for riding on!

And thus it was that Yako, displaying the same extraordinary lack of self-restraint that was slowly infecting the city, launched herself at the biggest robot to land on top of the packages on it.

Naturally, Ash hardly gave a damn about any of the various people (or other beings) that might be wandering about around him, unless they happened to come close by or started seeming like a threat. However, he'd designed these machines to do grunt work, not for battle and sharp reflexes like their predecessors had been. By the time his sensors had noted an organism flying towards the central carrier robot, it was too late for it to move out of the way, and there was a rather disheartening crack as Yako landed on top of a box full of delicate machine parts ( ... )

Unfortunately, a Jokerized Yako was apparently also a very persistent Yako; when the robot began to buck and tilt, she took it as her cue to scrabble through the boxes and try to grab onto the robot itself, grinning wildly (whether she as capable of any other facial expression at this point was debatable).

"Yee-hawwwww! Giddyap, robot!" The rather large skirt of the flamenco dress she'd pulled on from somewhere flopped behind her like a crazy black-and-white tail. Hysterical, obnoxious laughter bubbled up from somewhere in her until she was all but crying from it.

The saddest thing, perhaps, was that this was far from the weirdest thing on Siren's Port's streets.

Dammit, she really wasn't coming off. As soon as she spoke, Ash's databanks recognized the voice to be Yako's, which did nothing but increase his irritation. This woman had been nothing but trouble so far.

"You don't know what you're asking for," his voice snarled angrily. He was mostly bluffing. Now some of the robots were finally leaping from the ground, attempting to latch onto Yako's limbs or body with their legs. They could deliver a pretty solid electric shock - provided they actually managed to attach.
