Hitsugaya was being watched.

Rainbow Dash was still lacking her usual amount of light, and that combined with multiple days out after dark left her with a rather feral attitude.

She waited for just the right moment. When it seemed he would least expect it. Then, seemingly out of nowhere, a downpour would start. It was quite small. In fact, it seemed to only stretch for a mere foot on either side of him.

[OOC: Is it wrong for me to laugh at using water against Hitsugaya? Because . . . *totally laughing*]

And just as quickly, the downpour turned to snow at a minor exertion of Hitsugaya's reiatsu. He wasn't ignorant of the field of effect, either. This was a power, not a natural occurrence. Unfortunately for whoever was doing it, water was his weapon; he could manipulate it as he saw fit.

He stood unbothered by what was now the falling snow, voice calm and level when he spoke. "Is there a reason that you're doing this?"

For now, he would treat this as an annoyance rather than a threat. He wasn't going to waste his energy on anything that didn't deserve it.

The pony was incredibly irritated that her prank hadn't worked, but she did her best to try and hide it as she landed nearby. She stuck her snout in the air haughtily.

"I'm bored. This lame city is so dull."

Oh. It was her. And as agreeable as the last time they'd spoken, evidently. Still, she was harmless, and so he lowered his sword. He wasn't going to hurt her, no matter how annoying she was. He wasn't as violent as that.

Plus, she was a friend of Kazuma. That counted for something, even if he couldn't stand her personally.

"You shouldn't be out here."

When the blackout initially hit, Katara had been at work. Naturally, the first person she thought of was her brother, followed by Jet. And her other friends, but primarily, her brother.

It was infinitely creepier at night, truth be told, so after sending a quick message to her brother that she was heading home, she started to sprint off. Leaving the safety of the lake and the Underground Mall to the far less safe-ness of above ground.

She didn't seem particularly concerned though - not when she had water trailing after her from the canteen. It was as she was nearing Toushirou's own staked out spot that she caught sight of - and nearly screamed at - one of the Darkness monsters. Instead there is a strangled, "WHOAH!" And then a gush of water bullet-shot forward into the beast's face, catching it mostly by surprise, and sending it skidding backwards past the shinigami.

...oh. Oops.

He whipped his attention over to the direction the cry had come from, blade raised. More of them now?

But he just blinked in surprise as the monster skidded past him before reason reasserted itself and he flicked Hyourinmaru to send a wave of ice crashing over the monster before it gained wits enough to move again. It would be a while before it could move again regardless of its will, assuming it survived being encased like that.

He lifted the unspent kidou in his hand to allow himself a look at the person who had sent the creature flying backward in the first place. A vague expression of recognition lighted on his features. He'd seen her before, some weeks ago. But he hadn't gotten her name; he would have remembered if he had.

"You're unhurt?"

Reacting in just as much surprise as the beast when the wave of ice encased the beast, Katara followed the direction it came. Oh! She too, remembered him. The water that had been hovering at her shoulder slid up her arms like a pair of water sleeves as she glanced around to make sure nothing else was coming.

"Yeah, I'm fine - thanks." A pause. "You're the one that was at that snowball fight a few weeks ago, aren't you?"

He watched the way the water slid around her. Ah, right. She had dominion over the element, didn't she? He remembered now, where he'd seen her, and couldn't help the disgruntled look at the memory.

"I was there." He hadn't meant to be. That damned idiot had pelted him with snowballs, and he'd retaliated. What the hell had been wrong with him that day? Normally, he did not stoop to such pettiness.

Regardless, he nodded in greeting. "Hitsugaya."
