[And just like that, the plan is in place. Simple enough. Take down the guards if possible, if not then keep them occupied and cause enough casualties that their attention won't be on Kadaj ( ... )

Liquid didn't even try to dodge, taking in the burn of the blade cutting into him with interest. The shallow cut stung worse than a normal blade, the plasma burning into his skin. He gave a low cry of pain, half-stifled, but didn't jerk away. This was a new kind of weapon. A new kind of pain. Impressive, really. If this technology had been active at home, swords would never have become as unused as they were. "Snake. He and I are identical twins," he admitted.

This could be a dangerous battle. Liquid had little intention of getting himself killed, although the thrill of the battle was worth the risk. Risks made it all worthwhile, really. "He's been aware of this plan for a while now. I expected him to at least be on the sidelines."

And with that statement, he somersaulted over her head, landing on his hands and kicking out high behind him before flipping over onto his feet.

"He knew?!" She demanded, guard lowered as he went over her head, turning and catching the kick in the same arm the bullet had creased earlier with a grunt.

Staggering away she flourished the blade, flipping an indicator on the handle, the blade becoming a loose line of energy that she snapped like a whip. With the kind of agility this guy was showing off, she needed more then just a straight blade.

"Of course he knew. He lives with me, it's rather hard not to know what I'm up to. Especially since our 'fearless leader' refuses to secure conversations." A low chuckle slipped out. "Not to mention the fact we asked him to take part. He was the one that encouraged dear Gazelle to plan this out properly rather than just rushing in on his own."

Even if Snake had wanted them to stop, he had still offered them the aid of advice. Liquid easily twisted that fact. "The question is... how did you know-" His words cut off at the sight of the whip-like blade. "Now that's impressive. Sadly, I'm not into whips and chains." With those words, he flipped backwards, putting a few more feet between them.

"..." The only sound from Samus at that point was grinding teeth, her temper coming to the fore at the torrent of information from Liquid's lips. He knew? Even offered advice? What kind of stupid...

"Don't want to play anymore?" She bit out, "Fine, I'll put my toys away and we can do this like civilized people."

The whip retracted and she spun the paralyzer into it's holster. Maybe it was foolish to abandon an advantage, but she didn't want her latest "date" to be running away just yet, not when they had so much left to "talk" about.

"C'mon then, let's see if you're half as good as your brother." Beckoning Liquid on she slid into her Hiten stance.

Now this was a game he knew very well. It was not one he had expected, however. The taunt about Snake hit him hard, stirring the pools of anger inside of him far more efficiently than anything else would have. "How very kind of you," he growled, low in his throat. "Then have at you, woman!"

Without another word, he threw himself at her, throwing a fast punch at her face. In truth, he and Snake were equal matches most of the time. Liquid's advantage, however, was speed.

A dangerous game, that's what this was. The man in front of her was clearly trained, a professional soldier like herself...but with an emphasis on hand-to-hand over her emphasis on shooting. The taunt had riled him, and if she was going to have a hope in hell of winning, she'd need to ke-...

And then a punch narrowly missed taking her head off. Quick too, faster then Snake, just as fast as she was. Doubly dangerous then, time to throw some offense into her blocks, if she could connect an elbow block then her metal laced bones would do the rest.

Both of the twins had their advantages and disadvantages. Liquid prized manipulation and combat rather than the stealth and trickery that Solid tended to use. Right now he was in his element. The footing was good for fighting like this and the factor of the woman's visible skill was an interesting one.

He didn't, however, expect the block she used to be as effective as it was. Metal reinforcement simply enhanced the already dangerous move and he jumped back with a scream of pain. His left hand was clutched for just a moment before he let it drop to his side. For a moment he suspected armor; skin coloured clothing would cover it if it came to that. Then he dismissed the thought. Her defences didn't matter. Even with one arm disabled, pain coursing down his arm, he would still fight. This would be even more dangerous, however. He would have to take care to halt his strikes before the blocks damaged his free hand - or worse, his leg. He didn't have time to slice open his hand and use the water bottle at his waist to heal it. "Ngh... not ( ... )

The elbow block was a particular favorite of Samus' since her "augmentation", giving her a distinct edge against foes who weren't quite as chromed up as she was. When he jumped back she followed in hard with a right, left, right combo to take advantage of his pain...leaving her open for the kick that knocked the wind out of her sails and sent her stumbling back.

"Hnnnnhg." She fought for breath from the blow, not wanting to be on the back foot for long. If she gave for even a moment, he'd be on her again. One arm curled protectively to her aching stomach she stepped up and pivoted sharply on her back foot, snapping a sharp kick up towards his head.

He bore her punishment, having no chance to block the punches. The pain had consumed his mind long enough for her to get the advantage, but his kick had thrown her back. That was good. He didn't expect her recovery to be so fast, however. He jerked back, feeling the closeness of her boot as it just missed his face. Damage to the head would have likely been severe with her armor - or whatever it was that she was using. He wasn't sure. A low laugh bubbled up from seemingly nowhere.

"You're good. It's a pity," he mused, shooting his working hand out to try to grab her foot and pull her off balance.

Gods above he was quick. She'd never had an unaugmented human so able to keep up with her almost preternatural speed before, so when his hand closed around her ankle it was a complete surprise. With a cry borne of desperation she lashed out with her other foot, for the side of his head.

No feet on the ground put her in an awkward spot defensively, but if she couldn't land the kick...hopefully he'd just let go.

Just as she'd expected he reacted defensively, releasing her leg in favour of evasion. Her speed was tiring to match, it was true, but it wasn't fair to claim he was unaugmented. Liquid had been designed for combat from the moment he was cloned. As Snake had discovered, he was fast enough to dodge bullets if he was expecting the attack. Right now he was hyperaware, of his own condition, of her movements, of the area. Surely Kadaj had had enough time. What was taking him so long? He held back now, circling her slowly and waiting for her to attack.

The ground came up fast and hard, taxing her already aching lungs with the impact. Rolling she came up again, trying not to telegraph how badly she was breathing. That kick had dislodged something important and it was putting a stitch into each deep breath.

"You're...not...bad...yourself." She gasped.

"Better than Brother?" Liquid asked drily. His own breathing was harsher than it should be, pain echoing inside of his mind like a drum sounding out his condition. He held back, watching her. "I have no quarrel with you. It'll all be over soon anyway. One way or the other. If you're going to try to kill me, I'll fight to the end. If not, well." He left the statement unfinished, watching her movements.

He couldn't read her injury. Anyone who had hit the ground so hard as that would be out of breath and she gave no worse signs of injury than she already had.

"Not even by half Blondie." She bit back, flashing a condescending smirk.

If he was going to come at her, it would be now, and she wasn't going to give him the benefit of momentum. Surging forward Samus snapped out another elbow block to try and catch an errant arm or leg, spinning into the attack with an elbow to the sternum...this was how it played out in her mind anyway. If he held his anger in check she was going to be dangerously overexposed.

Except this time, Liquid didn't fall for it. "Liquid," he growled, low in his throat. This time he simply leapt to the side, rolled and jumped to land behind her. His foot flashed out, aiming for her upper back. If she managed to break his leg too, he'd be in trouble. It would mean he had to retreat and rely on his speed to get to safety.
