When: Shortly after
Nadeko's first post, before the evening sirens start on January 12.

He didn't want to think about that.
He made it to the diamond, walking past the greeters with an annoyed grunt. She was the only person in the actual area, and though he didn't know what the girl looked like it was easy to figure out who Nadeko was.

And then... the sirens started.

Whatever it was, it was making her companion more uncomfortable. She squeezed his hand a little harder, holding on as tightly as she could manage.

"W... we gotta... shit! C-come on!" he swore sharply, voice cracking. He started tugging her along again, hoping to find some place to hide.

She did what she could to keep up, running so quickly that she didn't even notice the pain in her muscles anymore.

Kazuma rounded a corner and instantly stopped, causing Nadeko to run in to his back. Not that he cared - she was safer back there anyway.
"S-stay behind me..." he said, unable to hide the fear in his voice. Still, he forced his legs in to a proper stance, putting his fists up. The thing before him was disgusting, a mass of flesh with legs and no arms or head, just stumbling along with a giant gaping hole in its chest.

She forced herself to look at Kazuma, surprised at what he was doing; he'd taken a stance. He was going to fight it. He was going to ....
"You're going to fight it?" She asked, her voice trembling. This sort of thing only ended well in RPGs, and even then, there was a .... phoenix down or life bottle or something to revive a party member if the worst happened. And you could always try again if a boss wipes you out.
You just could't do that sort of thing in real life! It didn't happen like that!

"A-Are you all right?!"
This ... was just a bad dream, right? A nightmare. She stayed up too late playing some game, and this was her punishment for it. None of this was happening.
If that were the case ... why did it feel so real?

"We need to keep moving," he insisted, grabbing his laptop bag and her hand again.

This has to be some nightmare ... I'll wake up any moment now, right?

If she could get close enough, she might be able to kick it and stun it or something ... but getting close might have the adverse affect.

He was afraid. He didn't want to die out there. He didn't want some one else to see him die, and he sure as hell didn't want to leave Nadeko alone. The more he struggled, the more he felt something strange and new rising inside him. It wasn't quite anger, but it was certainly an adrenaline rush. He groaned, yanking his arm back as hard as he possibly could. The tonuge released him rather suddenly as the creature let out a shocked cry of its own, and Kazuma went tumbling back past Nadeko, momentarily dazed.

"We have to keep going!" She hurriedly reminded him, tugging on his hand and trying to help him to his feet.

"Hnng... s-something's wrong..." he groaned, curling in to a ball on the ground and putting his hands over his head. The creature, however, had recovered and was lurching towards them again.
