[Alex shows up exactly an hour before it opens, as this guy said. He walks in with confidence, or arrogance, or apathy or a mix of all that. Either way he appears pretty unafraid as he enters and searches for this man, who is apparently not a man, but some sort of deity.

He doesn't know what this Lucifer looks like, but his eyes fall on someone and he makes a beeline for them. Assuming this is his new "boss".]

[ Lucifer is tending to the bar, already triple-checking his stocks for the night. The opening of any establishment is what crowns it as a place, rather than an idea in the minds of the people, and he needs everything to flow flawlessly. ]

Good, you're here.

[ He doesn't even need to look at the man -- he's too busy placing glasses in the easiest places to reach for the night, for when the rush comes. ]

Your shift starts at six, and lasts until midnight. Patrol the areas outside the bubble of protection around the Lux for any of our guests who may become waylaid by the darkness, and then lead them here if they are incapable of protecting themselves. That is all.

[Alex stops and listens. He's direct... and Alex didn't even get a good look at his face. Oh well. Later, maybe.

With a small noise of acknowledgment he turns around, heading right back for the door he came in through. At least it would keep him busy and out of that apartment for some more hours.]

[ He greets Alex at the curb in front of the club once his shift is over. ]

--How did it go?

[Axel's by the door, looking over their company, making sure things don't get too unruly, looking for the signs of hidden weapons or anyone who looks like they're here for more than just dancing and music. Pretty standard security stuff, and nothing he hasn't done a lot of already at Afterglow. He doesn't plan on abandoning that job, either, though with this he can say goodbye to the carnival. Now it seems the ruse may be useless anyway. Some people don't know how to keep their mouths shut.]

[He stands casually, but his eyes are gleaming, almost feral. He looks like he'd rather like someone to start some trouble.]

Kairi was going to only pop into the club for a little while, just to check out the scene - it was a bit crowded, actually. No bunny ears for her today, but she's wearing a white dress that fortunately has not had anything thrown at it yet. She hasn't taken notice of Axel ... believe it or not ... yet, though as luck would have it...

"Ow -- woah!" There goes the heel of a shoe twisting slightly, startling her enough to stumble backwards, one arm pinwheeling for balance. Make like a wall, Axel! Or are you going to let her fall on her rear, you cad.

As luck would have it, he's quick with the reflexes and manages to grab hold of her arm before she can actually fall over. She'd better be grateful for it. He holds on as long as it takes her to regain her balance, then drops her arm like a hot brick.

"Not used to grown-up shoes, huh?"

Lucky her! She'll even be grateful, if awkwardly so when she sees who it was that helped her. Actually, the gratitude comes first. "Thanks - sorry I --" ... "Oh." Awkward surprise there. Once she's got her balance and her arm is dropped like she has COOTIES or something, she stumbles back a step. The last time you had your hand on her arm you were dragging her off to the Nobody Party Palace.

And irritated, because you just love to be a jerk don't you. She doesn't answer at first, turning her foot to check the heel with an irritated frown. "Oh it's you." Gawd why. Because it's fun Kairi! "I haven't worn them in a while, okay?"

Jinx chose to sit herself close to the musicians tonight at a small, candlelit table. She was alone for the evening, as usual, and took to watching the man of the hour play the piano. There was something about him she felt drawn to, but the young sorceress could not put her finger on it. Either way, when he left the band, she found herself much less interested in the music.

Sipping at red wine, she watched the man closely, tapping her foot lightly to the beat. Tonight, she chose to wear a simple black gown. Her hair was pulled back into a bun, and her jewelry cost enough to make her roommates sick. Oh, well. What was life if you never enjoyed the little things?

[ He honestly hadn't anyone from outside of Gotham to attend the night's festivities, let alone a sorceress of her caliber. After finishing his light conversation with one of the up-and-coming music produces living back on the mainland, he approaches her, nodding once in greeting once he gets close enough. ]

My, what a small world this is.

When she caught sight of him coming up to her, she averted her eyes just enough to look disinterested. Really, her heart was beating faster and faster with each footstep he took toward her, and it was very difficult to resist staring at him. Instead, she tilted her wine glass just enough to see his reflection before he spoke. Then it was time to flick her gaze up at him.

"And what an empty table this is," was her quick response. This man, how did she know him? It was on the edge of her brain...

She was obviously trying to seem disinterested. Lucifer made a point of not taking a seat -- she'd react better to a more loose approach, after all -- and instead leaned on the table with a single hand, his body language keeping amicable and open.

"I trust you're enjoying yourself?" he asked, raising his voice slightly to be heard over the music. "Despite this woefully vacant table, that is."

It's a spectacle, all right, an event that could have been taken out of books and movies, brochures and only the most fondest of dreams. The setting, a perfect blend of the refined and the tempting; the atmosphere, a clever set-up of relaxing and inviting. Everything set just so to draw the eye and the interest, and no doubt well-intended to ensnare the soul.

The Demi-fiend wonders if this is what the casinos of the distant and fabled desert-city are like. If so, he can see the draw, can feel the temptation himself, taking root in his bones.

He's taken to drifting across the drifting maze of the floor, a strange youth with a stranger appearance. The lines of power that span his torso, his limbs, pulse with a soft cerulean light, as if reflecting the brilliance of the event. (Perhaps daring to match it, to eclipse it, subtle insolence.) He takes no drink, accepts no seat, preferring instead to walk and take in the night as it is, to listen to the band and the host's own performance as he wills.

Lucifer takes to watching the Demi-fiend as he makes his way through the crowd. He's taken a very subtle interest in the thing, an almost passing fancy that has him glancing toward it when it nears, when it draws away and slinks off through the crowd, never standing still, never letting himself be pinned to one place, to one person, to one spot.

It's almost amusing, in its own way. He knows that they both read each other perfectly, that the Demi-fiend can feel Lucifer's power as easily as the Morningstar can see it coursing through his body in intricate, tribal whorls. He doesn't dare try to close the distance between them, all but too content on watching and waiting, on biding his time until curiosity gets the better of him.

It's difficult to ignore the host of the night; in fact, it's almost impossible. The irresistible pull of his power, his very presence itself, filling the room like some great torrent or miasma. It tugs at his attention, bringing him to throw glances across the floor, brief flickers that do little more than tell him of the man's current whereabouts.

Perhaps that's why he'd decided to take up the broadcast invite in the first place: to get a better look at the man himself, to get a taste of that power that's at once so familiar, yet so foreign.

With each languid circuit of the floor, the Demi-fiend draws closer, curiosity driving him onward his wary circling.

He is a predator watching another predator, an ancient great white knowingly swimming in the same territory claimed by a fledgling orca. Between his mingling and music playing, Lucifer always remembers to keep the Demi-fiend in his sights, his golden eyes scanning the crowd for that pulse of power he can nearly feel in his throat, for those unearthly azure lights that faintly cast away and draw in the dark in the same heartbeat.

When the thing gets nearer, he makes sure that they will be relatively alone when they finally meet. He takes a seat at the bar and serves them both a drink -- scotch, dry -- in the hope that it will be an amicable one.

[Raphael arrives as promised, a cheerful smile on his face at the sound of music and the sight of people enjoying themselves. It's been quite sometime since he's been to a party like this, and he fully intends to experience it in the fullest.

He hasn't come alone, however. Upon telling Yamamoto where he'd be heading, the curious kid asked to come with him. Being a horrible role model in spite of his angelic status, Raphael agreed to be his chaperone to visit the club for the evening.

Because of this, even though he's sent a few cute lads and lasses meaningful glances across the room, he sticks with the kid to keep an eye on him as best he can with the crowd.]

[Yamamoto tries to take in everything at once--the music, the people, the atmosphere, seeming contentedly amused with just about everything he passes. It's probably the largest concentration of people he's seen since arriving, and it's weirdly disassociated from the monsters and the bleakness of the city after dark. The change is nice, even if he's left with a vague uncertainty if his dad would have approved of the place... But Raphael seems pretty happy, and Raphael is a not-apocalyptic kind of angel, so he's guessing it's probably fine]

Think it's always gonna be this crowded?

[Raphael grabs a colorful drink from a waiter as he passes.]

Lucifer is really charismatic. I wouldn't be surprised if it did.

Oh, hey, you know that guy?

[eying Raphael's drink with curiosity but not going for one himself. Not until he sees milk, or something]
