Christie had called him while he was at the theatre... hiding. The parties going on in the underground were loud and annoying. People in costumes and color and just... he didn’t want to be here.

And he wasn’t at first. He was invisible at first, walking with his NV to his ear. “But Christie... this is pointless. Can’t we just talk about it tomorrow an--- Yes, but if he wants to meet he could jus-but why there?” was the original conversation. Bullied into meeting his other employer at the Major’s Club he didn’t bother to change or dress up. He didn’t bother with the bouncers either. He slipped in, invisible, intangible and unnoticed ( ... )

He let go of her wrist, withdrawing a bit, pulling the cape around his shoulders more, looking down at the ground as she touched the wall, checking that it was solid. They were both visible once again, for when he let go he dropped the power as well.

"S-sorry." He said first, looking at the toe of his shoe for the moment, giving a small shrug. "I brought us out here. It's easier to go through the wall then fight that crowd of people. Faster. Ah... I should have said something but... ah... sorry?" He knew it didn't hurt nor did she feel anything when he did it, so she was safe and unharmed. But really... he should have said more huh.

The whole invisibility thing? Wasn't really acknowledged in light of the I JUST WENT THROUGH A FREAKING WALL thing. She put a hand to her face, then glanced at Claudio, stunned as he explained his actions.

"So we just... literally... went through that wall? Like ghosts?" Apologize? PFH. "Claudio, that's fantastic! I've never seen someone with a gift like that before - and it saves us from having to fight the crowd just to get outside."

Suuure it would have been nice for him to have said something beforehand, but..! Regardless, she put a hand to his shoulder, smiling reassuringly. "Don't apologize, you did us a favor."

There was a small, dry chuckle and a matching small smile on her face as he stared down, leaning on that wall still. Heh, he rarely showed off his powers to anyone really. There was a select few people he didn't mind it with, and the longer he was here the more he didn't bother to hide it. Still... it was nice to hear someone seem impressed.

Glancing over at her hand on his shoulder then to her face he just nodded lightly, still smiling a bit. "Like I said. I don't do well in crowds anymore. And yes. Yes we just went through a wall. Like a ghost." He rubbed at his neck again. "It's not fool proof, but I generally can get around the city pretty well like that."

"Anymore...? What happened?" Unless that was something that was along the lines of taboo to discuss. If so, then, oops! Relaxed now that she was outside though, she folded her arms and tilted her head. "Well, at least you're feeling better now, right?"

"It's a very handy ability I would say, especially if no one can touch you like that. How many people can you pull through walls with you like that?"

"Hmmm, too many unknowns in a crowd. This place is full of... tricks. You should be careful too. Don't let anyone try to capture you." He said in light warning, pushing off the wall and slipping his hands into his pockets. "Yeah. A bit better, though I didn't mean to drag you away from your evening out..."

Ah, there was a pondering look, then a shrug. "Donno. I've only just figured this part out really. Helped my friend out back a month or so ago during an earthquake. Then the other night." and then just now. Yes... what he just did was not something he had done often, but it was something he was sure he could do with ease.

Immediately Katara frowns, wary at the warning. "Capture...? So you're telling me that on top of the riots and the Darkness and the general animosity between natives and newcomers, there are people that are into kidnapping too?"

Spirits, this was insane.

"I'll be fine - I think anyone that tried to kidnap me would find they were in over their head." Probably. She paused at the latter, thoughtful. "Well, I'm impressed you have so much control over it if you only just figured it out."

Hmmm, he frowned, looking over at her, head tilted. "This place... it's got everything. Including slavers." He hated them. Hated slavers very much. Every time he thought of them it made the little scar on his neck itch. Oh yes, he had been through some weird shit in this city already.

"Just... be careful is all. I thought the same things when I first got here, but I seem to find people who can out do my powers off and on. I'm sure it will be the same for you." And it was true. People who could null powers or change them. It happened a few times, to his annoyance.

Impressed huh? He shook his head a bit. "It's not too impressive. It doesn't take much to do. Ah, you got a power?" He nodded out towards the rest of the mall, as if asking her to walk with him. "Want to see the theatre? Or is there anything around here you haven't seen yet?"

She'll probably end up finding out the hard way. Despite being a waterbender, Katara kind of had the temperament of a firebender. "Slavery...? Why doesn't anyone put a stop to it? They can't actually approve of that!?"

That was an outrage. Katara blinked at the question as if realizing where she was, and nodded slowly, "I've already been down there near the Lake, but I haven't had a chance to look around the rest of the place yet." No time like the present, right? "And yes, I do. I'm a waterbender." Proudly stated.

"It's legal here." He stated with a small shrug, his hands in his pockets now, that stupid cape hanging off his shoulders and down his back. The taller boy just watched his foot steps for the moment "Though I have a..." friend? hmm, maybe. "...well I know someone who's trying to stop it. I don't think he can though." And the two of them would end up dead, he was sure of it.

"Waterbender?" He wonder if that was what the people here called a Hydromancer. He'd ran into a Hydromancer one. That was really odd. "If I knew that I would have said you would like the underground lake. Seems you already scoped it out." A pause then... "I bet that's pretty useful."

"Legal!?" Katara clenches her fists. "Are you telling me that the natives here can take slaves and treat them like garbage or however they like, forcing them to do manual labor and spirits know what else, and no one can do anything about it?"

Fumefume. After a moment, she calmed herself down at the latter. "..maybe if he had enough people to help him these people wouldn't have any choice but to see reason."

She dropped her hand to her canteen, always present at her side. "Yeah." Her hand flicked upwards in a smooth gesture, and water flowed out of the canteen, rippling through the air and winding around her hand like a water snake. A flying water snake. "This is water bending." A very simple version of it at least.

"I did check the lake out, but I never found out - do they close the lake in the winter, when it freezes over?"

Whoa, small girl has a temper issue too huh? Not that he could blame her really. He found the idea of it being legal as rather maddening too. "I might be coloring the picture wrong. Ah... I don't think it's level for them to just take anyone. There's paper work that needs to be done. Reasons? But once you pay for the slave and it's signed over to you it's yours to do as you want." Like hunting. Remembering that really... he shivered, a hand rubbing at the scar on his neck again ( ... )

Even with paperwork involved, and it not being legal to just snatch someone off the streets, the idea that slavery still existed was just disgusting. The name dropped is noted, and for a moment, she froze. "A hundred years..." That's... a long time. Understatement. "I hope he has luck with it ( ... )
