Whoa, small girl has a temper issue too huh? Not that he could blame her really. He found the idea of it being legal as rather maddening too. "I might be coloring the picture wrong. Ah... I don't think it's level for them to just take anyone. There's paper work that needs to be done. Reasons? But once you pay for the slave and it's signed over to you it's yours to do as you want." Like hunting. Remembering that really... he shivered, a hand rubbing at the scar on his neck again.

"Lets just say you have to be careful who you deal with and what you do. There are loop holes." But she had a point. Maybe. "I think even with a lot of people, Mr. Edgeworth is going to have a hard time building a case on a hundred years of slavery..."

He paused as she did the water bending though, blinking. Well, that was rather impressive, and his face said so. "T-that's... really impressive." Oh gosh how impressed he sound too. Elemental powers always did catch his eye. "You were born with that skill? --Oh! Ah, I'm not sure the underground lake freezes or not. Might be nice for skating through if it did. The lakes above are radioactive so... I wouldn't go near those." Okay, well one was. But he wasn't sure on all of that.

Even with paperwork involved, and it not being legal to just snatch someone off the streets, the idea that slavery still existed was just disgusting. The name dropped is noted, and for a moment, she froze. "A hundred years..." That's... a long time. Understatement. "I hope he has luck with it..."

With a heavy sigh, she lowered her hand, the water sliding back into her canteen. The impressed tone brought a bemused smile to her face again, and she nodded. "Yes,.. for a lot of benders the gift they're given often depends on their location. Someone born in the north or the southern water tribes isn't going to be an earthbender, or a fire bender, or even an air bender."

Another pause, "Well if it doesn't, it doesn't look like too much trouble to make a nice little skating rink." She'd give lessons if her idea of 'skating' was conventional. Waterbenders cheat. Another frown at the mention of the lake.

"Yeah... I heard about that. I was talking to someone about it just the other day, actually." They'd wanted to know if she could clean it or move it - while moving a lake would in theory be possible, she wasn't so sure about cleaning it. Radioactivity wasn't like mud or rust.
