Judging from the sound effects, I'm guessing your answer is no.

I've had to chase away about five afflicted people from my house within the past few hours. But I've noticed if I'm quiet and leave the lights off, they don't come as often.

But it's certainly less risky than having to deal with the afflicted personally. It's not as if they're doing any of this completely on their own accord.
