[ Very early in the AM, a short video feed appears on the network. A few seconds in length, it's just a face and nothing more.

A few minutes later, a new transmission begins, this time with voice alone. ] Testing. Testing.

The time is 4:45 AM on an unknown clock. Testing. [ A short pause, and then it cuts a second time. That would seem to be ( Read more... )

[She's up at this hour even if she'd prefer to be sleeping. Her voice is quiet.]

Welcome to Siren's Port. I take it that you've spoken to a greeter at length?

[ There is quite the delay, as he has not checked the network since the early morning, but here he is again, sounding none the worse for where. ]

Thank you.

Yes, I have. You must be another Newcomer, correct?

That's right, I am. You're on the Newcomer network, in a sense. You can hear, see, and read anything people do or say over their NVs.

I've seen several transmissions like that.

They don't have any kind of security?

You've only just arrived, then.

Early yesterday afternoon. I was disorientated for a few hours, so I don't know the exact time.

Did you not make it to the apartments?

I did. But I chose to spend the rest of the day in the city to verify the claims that had been made by the Greeters.

[That face...there's the barest flash of recognition, on that fast glimpse, scraping up against another cache of associations that give him pause...but it's more like a flicker of Deja Vu than a memory he can actually place. Someone from SERO's conference...maybe? No, but this is a new arrival.

Daedalus does recognize the homeless man, at least. He's been in the clinic waiting room a few times after siren before.]

There should also be text and holographic function, those seem to come fairly standard.

The towers were a closer walk than any of the train stops- a greeter didn't direct you there?

[ A delay of ten hours or more later, Keith returns with this: ]

They did.

Once my condition stabilized I wanted to confirm the information they provided on my own.

Your condition...the pull-nausea, you mean?

My main problem was sever disorientation. Is that common for new arrivals?

[Actually, judging from the crunch of her footsteps coming from her end of the feed, she may actually be nearby...]

I won't recommend leaving the area you're currently at, especially considering it's quite late out.

[ Much later, she receives a short response at last. ]

That's what I was told by the other individuals in the station.

Ah, then I guess you probably don't really have a need for the Greeters, then, if you know that much already.

[She chuckles.]

Out of curiosity, though---where are you, exactly?

I spoke with the Greeters first, then looked for confirmation elsewhere.

The Tower Apartments, main lobby.

[ Long silence.

Going to actually think about this. Very briefly. If Siren's Port taught him anything, it's to be cautious once in a while. (Fighting every instinct in his body-) Or as cautious as instinctively turning on the VOICE function was, anyway. At least it wasn't video.

So, ideally, he would've replayed the video several times to make sure it's Keith. Just to make absolutely sure. But he'd just barely avoided teleporting right out of his apartment, so for all intent's and purposes, that's Keith. Definitely Keith. Still, something's... off about that face, and he wants to meet and talk, but on a public network? Better to wait.

Body's thrumming to go blasting off find him, but he'll. Stay. Put. (For now. Just for now.) ]

[ This isn't a function he uses very much (rarely; never), but flipping the NV to TEXT-

And if someone can sound excited through text? He's managing it. ]

Hello. Have you spoken to a greeter? Do you require assistance? [ Just give him an excuse to go find you. ]
