[ Very early in the AM, a short video feed appears on the network. A few seconds in length, it's just a face and nothing more.
A few minutes later, a new transmission begins, this time with voice alone. ] Testing. Testing.
The time is 4:45 AM on an unknown clock. Testing. [ A short pause, and then it cuts a second time. That would seem to be

I won't recommend leaving the area you're currently at, especially considering it's quite late out.

That's what I was told by the other individuals in the station.

[She chuckles.]
Out of curiosity, though---where are you, exactly?

[After Seth's particularly cold-sounding chuckle (not like that'll really intimidate Mr. Roboto much...), the feed abruptly switches over to video. It's obvious she's outdoors, and the characteristic rot that heralds the Darkness has already surrounded much of the street. Seth herself is not shown, but the creatures---Rope-Faced Dogs, in this case---are in view, shambling about. The feed then abruptly switches back to voice, and it sounds like Seth is drawing out something...metallic. And chuckling.]
Leave the monsters to those who can handle them. Avoid the nighttime if you can help it, new guy ["Because you're only human" (or so she thinks)] ---unless you want to be a hero and risk losing vital parts of you in the process? Up to you, but better safe than sorry.

Considering I arrived unarmed and with no knowledge of this city, it's not a mistake I intend to make. [ All of this is said steadily, with no change in his tone nor the volume of his voice to indicate that he had any reaction of any kind. ]

Well, that's not an attitude you often get from newcomers to this place! Okay, Mr. Brave Man, how would you like to make yourself useful now that you're here? Besides find a job---since those apartments are only free for about a month before they kick you out--- [Another pause, as she cartwheels away from the last Dog.] you don't have to fight if you don't want to, but you sound intelligent enough, so...
...Help me and I'll help you.

[ This, too, doesn't change. The same even, confident response without inflection, as though the words were a line that he had learned from a script or read from a book. As if he doesn't really have to think about them at all before he speaks. ] I know nothing of your allegiance, your character, your experience, your reliability, or even your name.
Until I can be sure of those things, it wouldn't be in my best interest to work with you.

...Computer?
Seth feels a sudden chill run up her spine as she dispatches the final Dog, hence the new pause. Shiroe had said something about a supercomputer ruling over his world, and how a person was actually created to be its---]
[---No, that couldn't be. This guy couldn't be that person. Silly her. But this feeling of apprehension won't go away, and in order to mask it, Seth lets out some more laughter.]Ha, ha! I'd feel more hurt at your rejection of my kindness, if only there weren't grounds for your suspicion! Well, okay, Mr. Ready-Set-Go, I'll give you a bit of advice: don't fall in too quickly with people around here. There are two companies that rule over this place, and they're none too noble ( ... )

A few seconds pass, during which he considers what she has said. ] I understand.
I will judge for myself.
And I will remember what you've told me. [ Not just about the city, but about herself. It...strikes him as a little strange, to speak of personal secrets at first meeting, but this is a new place.
There may be new rules. ]

She'd say "that's a good boy!" just to tease him, but she's not sure how he'll take that (also, now that she thought about it, it'd sound strange). Digress is taken.]
That's more like it, Mr...hm, I've been calling you all of these nicknames and yet I haven't gotten your real name! Ah---
[Crap, famous last words about the coast being clear; here come some more critters! Seth lets out a theatrical sigh, but it doesn't sound like she's too scared, much less tired.]
---I suppose we'll have to save it for next time I run into you. Stay safe now, you hear? Although I doubt you'll have much trouble doing that for the time being.

[ Said quickly; after all, it sounds like she has things to take care of and he's not about to hold her back. ] My name is Keith Anyan.
[ A short pause, one that could be - could be - considered hesitation. But his voice is strong when he speaks again. ] Be careful.
And good luck.

[She chuckles; she'll definitely be on the lookout for him, if her strange hunches are anything to go by. And don't you just love the sound of all that violence in the background...]
And thank you, and likewise. In terms of good luck, I mean.
[She laughs some more before disconnecting.]
