One would hope, at least.

What kind of story is that?

An old one, more a question of psychology and behavior than an actual story.

It's ridiculous. Why not just come out and say exactly what happened and leave the reader to question the true motive of the action?

It's much easier when things are set in stone, isn't it?

It would depend on if she wanted to be a better person than her father or not, I guess, or if she might have thought about killing herself as well. That's how some stories end.

There is some reference to a belief in the afterlife - the thought that if the lover died under the tiger, she would join him at the end of her own span, shortened of her own volition or not.

Did she believe in it, or was that just a common belief for that world and culture?

The implication would seem to be that she held some belief in the notion herself.

I don't really get it...

U-uwah, that sounds like a depressing sort of story.

"Sounds like"

You did not read it?

Oh! Well, I read it aloud to myself.

[Not that you can see, but he linefaces initially...but then he gets to thinking.]

Why would anyone want to kill someone they loved? Love's important, isn't it? People act like it is.

Love is important. Think about the situation, though. Also, think about the fact that there might be different kinds of love.

I don't even understand one kind of love.

I doubt even those who experience love do.
