[Image opens on a bare room, perhaps some kind of garage or warehouse. No obvious markings on the walls or telltale views through the windows.]

You know, these companies must not think a lot of their equipment, if they make it so easy to take. Guess they just don't care. It's a shame - this is some quality stuff.

Just the usual, Lee. Murder, arson, and jaywalking. Didn't you know?

A stitch? I'm listening.

Jaywalking? Sorry, I kinda just gotta draw the line there. Us superhero types have to have our standards ya know?

And yeah. Newcomer came in, just the other day. Sousuke Aizen, or Aizen Sousuke, but I'm pretty sure he's using the Japanese order, meaning Aizen's his last name. I think... Anyway. apparently, in some world or another - the one where my one roomie comes from - he's a pretty big to-do. Something about not looking at his sword or something.

I'm still trying to get all the deets from folks, but thought I'd give you what 411 I could.

Well, can't win 'em all I guess.

That's... not a lot of 'deets' to go on, there. Am I supposed to be avoiding this guy, or giving him a handshake?

What are the companies doing having vans just randomly driving around with this kind of stuff in them when they're not actually engaging in any militaristic operations? It's not like I've seen chaos on the streets, and there's certainly not been any explosions. In my own world I'd say that this was too high grade for gang-warfare merchandise--too refined. So why? Monsters, maybe, but explosives would be pretty useless against them, wouldn't they?

I suppose it's not your business what it was being used for, is it? But I would have been far more interested in that information than anything else you seem to be offering. It simply doesn't add up.

With the way people treat the 'new arrivals' in this place, along with what I've heard about tension between AGI and SERO, I'd say they're preparing for... pretty much anything.

Like Boy Scout Green Berets.

I mean, there's people here who can make buildings explode, transform into animals, and all sorts of superpowered abilities that would warrant responses like that. It's very extreme, but if these companies want to protect their assets, I can't be too surprised. You should see the security division for Lexcorp back home - looks more like a private militia.

Well, I'm in the process of decrypting some data drives that were on the van. One of them might have the information you're looking for.

[Light is unimpressed, really.] They're just companies; their machinations are political, sure, but they wouldn't attach their name to a military operation like this--it would instigate violence, not prevent it, and considering the massive efforts they go to to look like they have the city's best interests at heart, bad PR like this could only cause them problems.

You're a hacker too? Is there anything you don't do?

[But he's right, Light is interested. That's why he isn't quite done yet. What results is a pause, and then he speaks.]

How much do you want for them now, before you finish working on them?

I doubt they expected anything like this to be revealed in a 'bad PR' fashion. Honestly, I'm not second-guessing anything about these people.

I'm whatever the situation calls for. Don't think I'm the best hacker by any stretch, but I can do the job well enough.

Before I've finished? A hundred a pop. They could have deep, dark SERO secrets... or they could have the guest list for the annual fundraiser. It's a chance to take, sure... but it could pay off big. And if there's actually really juicy information... $100 is a steal.

I've got some buyers already for a couple of the first aid kits, and some of the tech, but the rest... let's say three thousand. That's not including the van itself.

Waynetech left the door unlocked.

Replace Waynetech with SERO, and replaced 'unlocked door' with 'really inept security.' The situation still stands up.
