My lady, I would happy to be the first volunteer. I am a first class swordsman specializing in quick deadly attacks and most importantly the stealth and speed you asked for. My training as a swordsman comes from being in a surprise attack squad which I lead. I am a ventriloquist capable of making my voice come from many different directions at once to confuse my foes. As a skeleton I'm incredibly light weight and do not have much to slow me down, and I am quite difficult to kill. I can move without making a single sound, and if by the slightest chance it was possible for someone to spot me, they'd likely mistake me for some form of nightmare.

You can call your gang whatever fancy name you like, it doesn't change the fact that you're a bunch of traveling -thieves and murderers-.

[If she was fully coherant, she'd probably feel bad for Brooke. He'd been nothing but polite and helpful so far, offering to throw himself into danger for people he didn't know or have any reason to trust. Unfortunately she's not herself, the very mention of the profession enough to bring back memories of her parents, her colony...all dead for many years because of pirates.]

I don't know what you want out of this but...but...

[She seethes, drawing breath in through clenched teeth. The situation is dire. What had Adam always told her? "Rise above it Lady. You have to rise above it."]

...but I'm not in a position to be picky. If you want to help, fine. But don't think this makes us friends.

[Brooke could hear the hurt in her voice, and feel her hatred towards him like the stab of a thousand blades. He liked her, he truly did, but he knew there were some cases where situations dictate that two people aren't necessarily going to get along. But he'd be as bad as she said he was if he didn't even try.]

I will do whatever you ask of me to help you in this endeavor. I promised to help you, and help you I shall, but I understand if I have to earn your trust. I told you before that all I wanted was to help, and that still is the case.

[Brooke turned away from the video feed but not before it was quite noticeable that there were... tears running down his cheek bones. With his back faced to the screen Brooke removed a violin from it's case and began to play a song that went like this. And he spoke while the he finished playing the song.]

Tell me where you want to meet to take down these criminals, and I will be there with, or without my crew.

[A crying Skeleton, now she'd seen everything. It was hard not to be a little moved by his music...and a little by the tears, but she pushed it aside and buried it swiftly. He was overacting for sure, trying to get her to feel sorry for him...no reason to show that it was working, even a little.]

...how many of your crew can you gather? With all of you...we might have enough.

[A Swordsman, a Sniper, an Assassin and a...Navigator? Three out of four was pretty good, especially if Brooke and this "Zoro" were as skilled as he claimed. At the very least they'd make a convincing brute squad...if they could be organized.

The question got her off guard, leaving her floundering for a moment before grabbing a reply. With folded arms she bit out.]

You're a pirate, and that makes you a criminal. Do I need another reason?

Yes. [Brooke was now directly facing Samus face to face again having given himself more resolve with his song.]

I have never broken the laws of this land, you don't know the laws of mine, and you do not even know what kind of criminal other than a pirate that I am. Frankly, I don't kill unless in self defense or the defense of another, I do not steal from innocent people, and I would never, ever, wish you harm. So please, tell me, why do you hate me? I know there must be more to it.

A pirate is a pirate no matter what land you come from. Does it matter what 'other' kind of criminal you might be if you already proudly wear the label of one?!

I'm a Bounty Hunter Brooke, I uphold the law. It's my job to bring in criminals that the Galactic Police can't catch or can't deal with. Murderers, Terrorists, Assassins, Warlords...and Pirates. Travel from one end of the Galaxy to the other and you'll always find them. There's never a shortage of people who want to romanticize being a thief and a killer by calling themselves by a different name.

[It was a facade, and a weak one. It was true she was a Bounty Hunter, true she hunted those who broke the law, and true that she held a particular loathing for all criminals. But -especially- true of Pirates, especially, especially true of Space Pirates and especially, especially, especially true of the Space Pirates that had wiped out her colony and left her as an orphan before she was even ten.]

Zoro was a bounty hunter once too, and bloody good at it from what I hear. That's besides the point though I suppose. I fear your view of things is a little to black and white Samus. You view all pirates as an evil that must be eliminated but like any race or occupation there are those that are good amongst those that are evil. I would have a very hard time being a bounty hunter, because I have to know the details of every situation. A rebel trying to overthrow an oppressive king that enslaves his people might be seen as a criminal. A man who steals from the rich baron, to feed starving children can also be seen as a criminal. And... a man who disobeys his direct orders to kill a child can be seen as a criminal too ( ... )

...your situation is the exception, rather than the rule Brooke. If what you say is true, then I can't doubt that you mean well but...wouldn't you look the same way on a good man who labeled himself as a killer? Or a thief?

I'm not a proponent of guilt by association, but you have to know that by taking on certain titles you bring the weight of those linked to the title down on your shoulders as well.

[Now she's really reaching. He's convinced her that he's not a bad person, but she can't back down from this topic she just...can't. It would be a betrayal of her mother and father, of all the people Space Pirates had killed.]

Lady Samus, by every right I am a killer and a thief. I killed the members of my own attack squad, I stole the child from his uncle, and I am a pirate. I have to judge a man by what I see, not what I've heard about his title. I hear that skeletons like to do nothing but scare people, but here I am, I hear that aliens like to suck brains out through a straw, but there you are. In the case of these murderers they have been responsible for the deaths of innocents in a most horrible fashion so I know I must act against them. I will never say all pirates are good, but in the same respect, I cannot damn all of them either. I know that you as a lady of the law cannot abide by pirates, and I would expect nothing less of you, but I cannot change what I am, and would not even if given the choice. The world I live in is not a fair one, and by abiding by the laws, I have seen too many good people get hurt. Thus I live by what I know is right, and I will fight until my last breath to see everyone smile. Even if as a skeleton I no longer ( ... )

[-Lady- Samus. That was something she hadn't heard for a long time and it gave her a moments pause. Adam used to call her that when she'd been with the Federation, and called her that again when his brilliant mind was stored in a computer. To hear it here was as unnerving as it was...soothing.]

Wait, Alien? I'm not...[She trails off, lips pursed in thought. To these people, that must be what it seemed like. And really...how much of her was human anymore?] Alright that's fair.

You make...valid points Brooke. And I wouldn't ask -you- to change, not after speaking so openly. But just the same I -won't- change. I might respect you as a person...maybe even as a friend, but never as a Pirate.

[She sighs, scrubbing her hands over her face.]

For what it's worth, I'm sorry I offended you.

Well to be fair Lady Samus, it's not really that you seem anything like an alien to me, but I'm from another world entirely, so anyone who isn't from my planet would technically be an alien no? But I'm not worried, it's not like I had any brains to suck out anyways. Yohohoho!

[Brooke was in a much more light hearted mood having heard that Samus may even consider him a friend, and almost any trace of his tears earlier were gone. He really couldn't help but really like her for some reason, and he had no desire to be on her bad side.]

I can't really expect you to respect me as a Pirate, Pirates aren't exactly the most respectable people in the world typically. However, I do hope that we can maybe be friends in spite of it.

[Brooke's voice was a little less chipper as he said this, since he was still worried Samus might still resent him. But he thought maybe, just maybe, a joke would smooth it over better. Unfortunately... he couldn't really come up with any good ones.]If we do become friends, I'll try my hardest not to ask to ( ... )

[She quirks a half-smile at him, the same signature smile that had driven her superiors in the Federation to the brink of distraction.]

Deal. You don't ask to see my panties, and I'll think a little more on this whole you're a Pirate thing.

'Sides.

[She leans in conspiratorially. And with that she logs off. Had she just flirted with a skeleton? Best not to think too long on that.]
