[ The video turns on; Harry still looks rather clammy and tired, but he's dressed more sharply in a clean white shirt and black coat, tying a tie as he talks. He's got a pink satchel slung over his shoulder. ]So I've been thinking, well -- one of the first things I was told when I got here was to get a job, and sitting on it for a few days I ( Read more... )

[ There's an old man with clear yellow eyes, stroking his chin. ]

This is a very good question, thank you for bringing it up. I myself am in immediate need of money, but I doubt that my last occupation will translate well in this world.

What's a resume?

It's a list of your past jobs, and work experience. You show it to employers and they determine if they want to hire you. What did you do?

An adviser and guardian, but mostly a balladeer.

Basically, if you know what you're talking about and can do the job well...then they have no reason not to hire you. Unfortunately, Newcomers sometimes come and go, and so we're not really reliable. People might be hesitant to give you a job because of that.

That's both reassuring and not. But it makes sense enough. How often do people go... back?

It's hard to say. Some don't even stay here a month. Others... Well, some people just had their two year anniversary.

I can see how that kind of inconsistency would be a turn-off. There's really no pattern to it?

Unless you want to know how to get a job at Corndog On a Stick, I won't be much help. Good luck anyways, Harry.

Well, ol' buddy, ol' pal, ol' compatriot of mine -- I happen to be a king of writing resumes! Been doing it since I was fifteen, don't you know!

First we have to start with your marketable skills -- what're you good at, dude? Outside of, you know, being way more charismatic than I ever will be.

Well, what kind of job are you looking for? [She tries to smile. Elaine Belloc feels sorry that he looks so nervous.] I would offer something, but I don't know if the idea to work in a piano bar is a very attractive idea to you.

[ He tries to smirk. ]

It depends on the kind of work. I can't promise I'd be of much use on a piano.

I'm good at mixing whiskey with coffee. I don't know if that counts.
