1. [voice; backdated to 11:00pm on the 6th] Truths Eclipsed by a Tumultous Sky

Jan 07, 2012 13:27

Ah, hello. I suppose I'm new. I can't say this is very... um... convenient -- to be brought here, I mean -- but there are upsides. It may seem silly, but if you look out the window....

There is a moon. Sure, it's hard to see, but it's really there. It's also a little, ah, creepy out there right now, granted, but... at least the stars are also there ( Read more... )

You have no sky? Then what do you see at night?

As for your other question, most of us don't come from places with monsters that come out at night, haha. In fact, there's nothing really supernatural in my world.

Fake stars.

I've always thought there was nothing unusual about my world, either, but... it seems like there are some rather big differences, after all.

Fake?

Yeah, big differences in the 'people' or beings, too. Just yesterday, I was talking with a house!

[HE WOULD ANSWER THAT QUESTION but he's not really here to talk about himself and also what on Earth--]

...a house.

[Nah, Hei. Meowth would've missed the point anyway- OH MY GOD, SOMETHING HORRIBLE JUST OCCURRED TO HIM.]

Fake stars, huh- EH?! Does that mean they fake the moon too? [THE HORROR.

THE HOOOORROR.]

[ that sounds... awful. ]

Well, it's covered up. By something that looks like a sky, admittedly, but...

The sky is covered with a...sky? How did that happen?

We're not sure.

Ah, a little like how nobody knows why we're here.

Good evening. [ The smooth, gentle voice that greeted him clearly belonged to a woman with a smile. A hint of chuckle glided along her next words. ] You know, that's definitely something I've thought about more than once.

Underneath all that smog and taint, the stars must surely be shining, beautifully as ever. [ Her voice warmed with ease. ] In spite of everything, it's a wonderful thing. And whenever I follow that train of thought, I can't help but notice the good that this city still has to offer. Like, the air we breathe in -- or the sight of the rising sun.

It makes things feel less bleak, doesn't it? Even though I can't say my home was missing anything this city has.

[A... pause. He sounds mildly surprised when he does speak; clearly he did not expect such a deep response.]

Ah... yes.

I suppose it's a way to keep afloat.

Oh, come now. [ She spoke with an earnest reassurance. ] You were starting off so well. 'To keep afloat' -- that makes it sound like we're victims.

I won't deny that we are prisoners of the Core. But think of it another way. We can also be this city's heroes.

Have you had a chance to hear why the Core was first developed?

My home was protected by a dome, because the world outside was inhabitable. So, you could say there was no sky.

Really? You're the second person from a place like that...

Did it just look like a very high ceiling, or did they try to simulate the sky, at least?

It was as if a dirty piece of glass had been extended over everything. From what I can remember, I don't tend to look up.

Ah, so closer to this than what happened at my home, then.

And it's been like that all your life?
