1. [voice; backdated to 11:00pm on the 6th] Truths Eclipsed by a Tumultous Sky

Jan 07, 2012 13:27

Ah, hello. I suppose I'm new. I can't say this is very... um... convenient -- to be brought here, I mean -- but there are upsides. It may seem silly, but if you look out the window....

There is a moon. Sure, it's hard to see, but it's really there. It's also a little, ah, creepy out there right now, granted, but... at least the stars are also there ( Read more... )

No sky? [Excuse him a second. He's trying to make sense of this.] Did everyone in your world have to move underground or something?

[Oh, a kid... how to explain this.]

The sky was covered up by a fake sky.

[This kid can understand serious and/or complicated explanations. But Hei doesn't know that.]

Over the whole planet? [That'd be pretty darned impressive.] Why would you need to do that?

I don't think anyone knows.

No one can tell why people are brought here, right? It's a little like that, I think.

Sanity.

[Grumpy Aoko is grumpy. Don't worry; it's not you.]

You call getting yanked from . . . wherever you were and plopped down into the middle of a baseball field sanity?

Because I don't.

Well, it's... very odd, to say the least, but I'm sure there are reasons.

How can you not have a sky?

[There are a lot of things different in Frau's world than here. He's come to learn that most people here think he's world is rather insane. Apparently islands don't float in mid-air usually. Who knew? Still, having now sky is beyond weird to him. If there was no sky, what did you see when you looked up?]

Do you live underground or something?

I apologize, it might have been clumsy phrasing on my part.

You can no longer see the moon or stars from my Earth. There are things that look like stars -- but they're not real stars. A "fake sky", so to speak.

And you know they're fake... how?

[He can't help sounding skeptical.]

[Voice] nicecollarbones January 8 2012, 02:55:34 UTC
Well... they don't move at all like stars should, for one.

You didn't have a sky? That's so sad!

[voice] nicecollarbones January 8 2012, 02:08:17 UTC
...we still have stars. They just aren't the real ones.

[video] quackery January 8 2012, 02:12:39 UTC
What happened to the real ones?

I'm not sure. But I hope someday they'll return.

Are they ever visible here? [Because he's never really seen clouds this dense, and they don't seem like the regular kind...]

I'd always thought the moon was inconstant, but - ten years?

Reply

nicecollarbones January 8 2012, 03:15:04 UTC
That's when it disappeared.

Ah... "inconstant", though?

Changing every night. Fickle. A bounder and a rake.

Liable to leave a lady stranded~!

W... well, mine has been pretty uniformly absent.

It's not much of an improvement, unfortunately.
