Is this on? [A familiar face peers into the device and then sighs, as he sees the NV is indeed working.]
Ok, good.
From what I've heard I've been here before. No, I don't remember. Anyways, that's not important.
[It is but, that's not what the post is about and Dean sits back with a frown.]I've heard the usual run down. Canada, monsters, the

[Lucifer's just lounging. In a bar. Feet up on a table. Even on the small NV screen that much is obvious.]
I know it's not just a machine.

Yeah? What else is it?

Dean.

Cas, there you are. Doing okay? [He's concerned in his Dean way while subtly relaxing a fraction because he's seen Cas is alive.]

He doesn't seem to notice any of these things though, and brightens just slightly at that reaction. That was not the greeting of a Dean that barely knew who he was.]
I'm fine, Dean. What is the last you remember?
[Is he possibly from a closer time to when Castiel and Sam are from...?]

Last thing? Finishing up a hunt with Bobby and Sam. It's been a bit since the big this should be ended crap happened. A year. You?

Daughter of a bitch, rather than son, I believe.
She thinks. She's alive.

Seriously?
...what has she said? I mean, if anyone is able to talk to her.

[This? This is why he and Cas are friends.]
No, we cannot communicate with her, too large a communication gap.

So it's like an angel using their 'true' voice on those that can't handle it? To us it's just this screeching sound and our eardrums explode?

It's broken, stop being mean.

Broken then, doesn't change we're all here and monsters try to play what's on the inside.

You still don't have to call it names. Being broken is awful, and it's almost impossible to fix yourself after a certain point.
I'm sure it's doing the best it can.

Phenomena attributed to the Core in the last couple of years include bringing the Newcomers here from a variety of times and universes, keeping the inhabitants here with what's called a Pull which brings first pain and then damage and death if you go far enough from the island, a glowing ring at night which seemed to be at the point where the pain of the Pull starts, bringing Newcomers who have been killed here back as if they had just appeared but with the memory of their death, granting Newcomers powers not possessed by normal humans, swapping the non-normal-human powers possessed by much of the city, creating snow globes personalized to many Newcomers, earthquakes, and other things as well.

Newcomers getting powers. Almost everyone here has a power not possessed by normal humans -- telepathy, telekinesis, the ability to run really fast, magical powers, extraordinarily sharp sight, an ability to put illusionary polka-dots on a wall, something. Most but not all Newcomers also have such powers. Most or all - people aren't forthcoming enough to say which - Newcomers who do not have any such abilities manifest some such power after being here for a while.

Yeah, I'm real broken up about that. [His sarcasm is light, intended to be more of a joke.]
So we can't tell what 'power' we get if we never had them before until they start waking up. Freaking awesome. [He can only think of his mother.] How long a 'while', before they show. Do you know?
