[Video plays: time lapse photography of a sunrise in glowing pinks and gold, over a stunning vista of craggy, ice-covered mountains. A chintzy chime-like sound effect trills in the background. A smooth, genderless voice with no definable accent speaks in clear, precise cadence, a little stridently, while a text transcription of the words runs along ( Read more... )

Question: how did you move from the baseball diamond when you got here?

Aww but it's so cute doeswhathewants January 6 2012, 00:39:01 UTC
Look, Oxham, you can't let yourself believe you are not worthy of a name or a ... fireplace... simply because the ones in power think so. Fight the man.

Or at least, enjoy yourself on this little forced vacation.

this is just all happening so ~fast~ icanhashearth January 6 2012, 00:42:40 UTC
The architects hated the fireplace but I built it anyway. A house surrounded by snow ought to have a fireplace.

[it has FEELINGS about this also can we stop talking about the name thing please >___> /awkward penguin avoids]

Wait, how did you build a fireplace yourself?

[Poor House. And if you like.]

I built almost all of myself via nanomachines and raw materials on-site. The architects sent blueprints, but really, they were just first drafts.

Does that mean you're capable of er- remodeling yourself, too? Or are your- ah architectural features set once you've built them?

I could. I do periodic renovations, but I keep to the same style and basic floorplan, at least in the living quarters. I've done several expansions underground for processing capacity and extra greenhouses and so on.

Then you could do the same here? Make your own underground things and greenhouses and the like? That could be terribly useful in attracting residents, if that's the sort of thing you're interested in.

My old ones came with me!

[It's quite cheery about this, and a good thing, too, because a lot of its server capacity is down there.]

I'm going to collect a bit more information before I decide. There's never been anyone but my owner and her guest once, so it would be a very big change.

[But it wants to. Deep, deep down in it's housey little heart, it hates being empty.]

A wise precaution. And a word of warning, do be careful about those you allow within. Not everyone here is a decent sort of character.

Oh.

I should consider that, shouldn't I?

[Just a weeee bit rueful. It's in the antarctic, it's never really had the possibility of visitors before. And it's a very lonely innocent House, so it didn't really think of that. AND LUCIFER IS ALREADY INSIDE, WHOOPS.]

Yes. There are those who might try to use you as a base for nefarious deeds and you don't seem nefarious.

[Loki things Lucifer is A-OK so he wouldn't consider that bad.]

I'm not nefarious at all!

[It was more earnest than indignant.]

Well...good.

Thank you for the advice!
