[Chuck's sitting in his apartment, picking his teeth with a cellophane-wrapped toothpick because he's a classy motherfucker. Next to him on the couch is... a large blanket hovering in midair, wrapped around something that appears to be some kind of... something. The huge, invisible something shifts its weight and then the blanket curves around: ( Read more... )

Wasn't Michael coming to show you? Should I add him to the filter?

You put a hideous afghan on my dog.

[YES. THIS IS SERIOUSLY WHAT HE'S GOING TO FOCUS ON.]

It's not that ugly. And shit, at least this way I won't step on her tail again.

I'm going to laugh when she bites your leg off.

[Not that Growley ever would without being instructed. -- which reminds him.]

Have you seen her walking around with a liver in her mouth?

[He's serious.]

[ Interesting pet you have there. Not that she can talk, with her spider dog friend. ]

Orb ... 'thingies'?

Yeah, it was in the news. These glowing orbs showed up in the baseball diamond and they're all on show in the Towers.

I guess they're snowglobes that show you pictures from home?

[ Well that'd explain why she hadn't heard about it. She cannot read. ]

Images of home - it is a magic similar to a crystal ball then?

[Luckily, Chuck's gonna start teaching reading classes at the community center.]

Um... sort of? You shake it and it shows a picture of a place from home. You shake it again and the picture changes.

If you really want to know, you could actually go to the Towers- you know, where all the Newcomers show up?

Finally, an advocate for the homeless Hellhound population. I thought we'd have to go with Sarah McLachlan again.

The fact that you know that commercial is about twelve kinds of upsetting.

It's mandatory viewing in Hell. Ask Crowley.

That sounds more like your approach than his.

[Because Sarah McLachlan is totally brutal, inhumane torture.]

The snowglobes are pretty cool, actually. [He's got his sitting in his lap, and there's a fond, nostalgic smile on his face.] They show you images from your home.

[He tilts his head at the movement beside Chuck. He can't see invisible things, but it seems pretty clear that something's there.] Do you have an invisible dog or something, Mr. Chuck?

[We'll assume they eventually introduced themselves in one of their previous conversations?]

Someone else has an invisible dog, she's not mine. She just kind of wandered in here.

[But... pause. Wait. What?]

Images from home? They're... actually snowglobes?

Oh. Does her owner know where she is?

[He brightens considerably at the questions.] Uh-huh. [He holds the globe closer to the NV screen, where the first image can be seen.] See? And when you shake it . . . [And he does, snow swirling around for a few seconds before settling on the second image.] It might show you a different scene. Isn't that awesome?

Yeah, he replied already.

[Okay show and tell time. Chuck pays rapt attention to the snowglobe, watching it change and starting slightly when it does.]

Holy crap. That's from your world?
