The Darkness is the decaying force and the monsters which occur after sundown and leave at sunrise - typically referred to 'after Sirens' or Darkness.
I didn't say there was a way out - I said there isn't an answer as to how this is accomplished.

Thank you. He's stronger than me in every way that matters. But, if he arrives he'll be a lot more vulnerable than I was. That's why I was upset.

Oh, yes. Eric Northman, if I'm not mistaken. I've never spoken with him personally, but I know of him. He runs the vampire club associated with AGI, Fangtasia. But, by being in trouble...do you mean he needs help or he did something questionable?
