[ When the feed first starts, broadcasting from a poorly lit warehouse, the video isn’t exactly angled to show much of importance. All that’s captured is part of Peter’s face, smeared with blood, at the edge of the screen. He’s stolen Sylar’s NV and he doesn’t exactly know how to use it, but he’s a quick learner right now and after a second he ( Read more... )

[ Robin's suit. That particular suit. That body--

No. ]

[ Move move move move- he's already moving, his fingers tracing the signal. It's as if the shadows themselves are bending, shifting, the city urging him on. Carrie Carrie Carrie like a constant drum, beating against his skin.

He's still moving. Running, running, the shadows bending themselves but he doesn't even notice.

It takes him two minutes. ]

[ There's no need for the door. Or for windows. He's suddenly just there, in the middle of the room (he will think about this later, and stare at his hands and feet and body in horror- but now-) he's moving to Carrie's body. Corpse.

And there's no mistaking it to be her. Gently, Bruce tugs off the goggles, and his hand slides down to cover against the wide-staring eyes. The blood smears all over the floor, and there's something incredibly grotesque about the open airiness of her skull.

His hand doesn't tremble. When he speaks, his voice is near-eerie with its stillness, its depth.

Still waters run deep, Peter. His anger does not flare. ]

What.

Happened.

[ Peter's still in the midst of panicking, not even sure how to react to the mess he's standing right in the middle of. Which is why the sudden appearance of Batman hardly does anything at all to him, watching the other man seemingly swoop in and start taking care of all the things that he's done wrong, right out of the gate.

Because Peter can't, he doesn't know how. Not right now when he's still coming down from the high that only murder can bring and trying to understand what exactly he's just done.

It's Batman's voice that truly does him in, snapping his attention to his looming figure and coming up empty. Explanitory words simply won't cut it, not when he can't even explain this all to himself. ]

Sylar, he got here first--

[ It takes him a minute. Or maybe two, he's not really keeping count. ]

Like what?

I'm sure someone will trace the NV and show up so you won't be alone there. Is there anyone in particular you want me to look for and tell them to find you?

For that matter, do you want me to head your way? It'll take a while unless I catch a lift.

I don't know, I don't- [ He's too horrified, too sick to be able to think properly. ]

I should stay here.

[Sherlock is not particularly phased by the shows of brutality on the NV anymore. They had become nearly trite. Still, he wanted to keep tabs on cases like this. He knew Sylar had killed a Greeter, it was why John decided to help Amy learn to defend herself. Seeing him get his comeuppance isn't surprising either. He doesn't feel any sort of pity.

His indifference comes to an abrupt halt, however, when the second body comes into view. He would have been able to identify it even without the suit's colors. Even without the red hair on her head. Everything quickly goes numb when the realization hits him.]

[Carrie. Unacceptable. Totally, utterly unacceptable. Faking a murder scene? Unlikely. Not at that level of intricacy of wounds. On her-- unacceptable. Fact.

Everything has muted around him to the point of buzzing. She missed tea today. Not entirely unusual. But if this was why--]

[There's no inflection to his voice at all. It's just one, cold word that falls grimly into the speaker.]

Explain.

[It cuts off just as quickly as it came, and Sherlock is off, tracing the signal. He doesn't take the motorcycle. The shadows will do.]

[ He'd be happy to explain if there was a way to do it that made sense and so instead, there's just unending silence on his end of the line.

But he'll try to dredge up something, even though there's nothing there to reply to. ] Sylar found her.

[So this is what you take personal leave to....take care of.]

Are you injured? S-should I dispatch EMS?

You.

[A steadying breath. She's long beyond help. Even the help of Skye's most talented healers, miracle-workers far beyond the capacity of medicine.]

...Please. What's happened? Did you...come upon all of this?

Yes? [ He's really trying to answer these questions right now, but none of them sound honest enough in his head and he's grasping at straws. ]

Sort of? What part?

[ It's a good thing there aren't any close-ups or long lingering shots because... that is a lot of blood, and who knows what else. It's hard to keep watching. But her heart drops to the pit of her stomach when she hears Peter's voice coming from it all, and then panic starts to set in. Really set in.

Not only that, she recognises those bright colours that have swooped in to escort her home a few times. And just- it's a lot to take in. ]

Peter? Peter, what- [ no, first things first: ] Are you okay?

[ You're just.. going to get a lovely shot of the ground right now Amy, because he doesn't even know what to say. They've only just started talking and he likes you, and you don't need to see this. Him being the villain. He's making such a hideous impression and it's really not doing a whole lot to keep him from panicking.

But right now, he knows for a fact that he doesn't deserve the comfort. ] Yeah, i'm.. fine.

[ Somehow Amy can't see him as any sort of villain; she he certainly doesn't want to. But emotions are difficult right now, and they both seem to be at a loss for words. She's falling back on an unusually quiet voice. Her expression would match if he could see it. ] You know that's almost always a lie when people say that.

[ a long pause. ] Did you- You found her like that?

[ She doesn't need to ask about Sylar because she has a feeling she knows the answer, but she just needs to be sure about Robin. ]

video; askedtobe September 27 2011, 04:42:36 UTC
[ The honest answer would be no, but it's a lot more complicated than that, and as much as he hates lying, he doesn't think he can explain this away. He knows he's done so much wrong here that trying to go back to the person he used to be is impossible and all he wants is to not to have to lie.

But he can't make himself be honest either, because it's all too easy to point the finger at the man he pinned up against the wall and slaughtered, and say that he did it. That Sylar's the one to blame even though it's Peter who played a part in all of this, in a different way. ]

Yeah. [ so that's what he comes up with at the end of it, because he did find her like that. Almost. It just didn't end there.

and then there's another long pause before he keeps going. ] Amy, I- I should've gotten here faster.
