[Good afternoon, Siren's Port. Your resident sheepdog is sitting on his desk in the Felton Theater offices, some papers in his hands. He's dressed kind of casually for a manager but whatever, details, you know. He's looking at one paper in particular.]Might be a little young to do this, but I was wondering how someone goes about investing in a ( Read more... )

Hey Riku, I'm coming by Felton this afternoon, since the game was canned.

Mind if I borrow some things from prop storage? And maybe raid the costume room? We're doing a theme party at Sector Zero tomorrow, and I promised the ladies running it I'd get some big hair wigs and fake guitars and things.

...You promised "the ladies".

[Can you hear his deadpan?]

Have it back by tomorrow, first thing in the morning.

Lois Lane who writes the news, and Rochelle! I figure they can give Sector Zero a good entertainment report or something, so it's important to make them happy.

Wednesday morning- party's Tuesday night, but I can have it all back by then. I won't take anything from what's in production right now, obviously.

Fine, fine. Just make sure it's back, okay? You'll pay for new ones if I don't have them back by the end of the week. Our prop master will throw a gasket if you let it go for too long.

You want to be a businessman now? Is there any job you don't do?

[He sounds faintly amused, but a little impressed too. One big job at a time is all he can handle.]

How's everything going at Felton these days, with Cohen gone? Ven said he's working there now.

Investing in one business doesn't make me anything. I just want to try and help it out a little.

[He shrugs.]

It's quieter, definitely, especially with Jinx taking it easy. Ven's a great help around the theater; he does my old job.

Yeah? What'd you have in mind?

You're lucky to have him. He works really hard at Kahve, too. And now you know you've got another singer if you need one. [He doesn't sound so enthused about that part, though.]

I'm thinking about investing in Kahve.

I know he does. Unless he wants to try out for something, though, I can't really hire him. [Aww, son.]

Not the smartest of ideas, huh?

You're beginning to sound old.

Someone has to be in charge around here until you're back at one hundred percent.

With that logic, you won't get a vacation until next spring. Workaholic.

I'll have plenty of money to tide me over to take a long vacation, then.

Do we need more security?

Can't hurt. We could use one or two more people so people don't have to work every day of the week.

Depends on your definition of 'hurt.'

There are actually two stock markets in the city. One is only available if you have AGI affiliation and only sells stocks of AGI-affiliated companies. The other only sells SERO-affiliated companies and is only available with SERO affiliation. You may still buy stock in an affiliated company, but you have to find a willing seller on your own: you won't be admitted to the place where stocks are freely bought and sold. Similarly, you can buy stock, or shares, in a neutral company, but there is no public stock market where neutral company shares are publicly bought and sold.

So if you know what company you want to invest in, and you want to buy stock, talk to the person who owns most of it and see if he or she will sell you some of what he owns, and come to an agreement on a price with him or her.

One important caution: before buying stock in any company, check to see that it is incorporated as a limited liability corporation, and that its articles of incorporation explicitly state that the company's assets do not include sentient ( ... )

[Wow, that was...a lot of information. A lot of it he wasn't really even asking for. But he'll remember it for later.]

Okay. Thanks.

[A smile.] A bit much, I admit. You triggered the businesswoman and the teacher simultaneously.
