[Misato looks less like crap than she should, considering she's been wallowing in her room for the past couple of days ever since the cherry blossom fiasco ended. She doesn't remember A LOT of it, but she knows enough to know that it was disgusting and shameful and everything she's been wanting to do to herself. God, she hates herself right now.
But

And that's where it gets complicated.

[Sarina pauses for a little bit, rubbing a thumb against her lip as she pondered over the second part of Misato's transmission.]
But there's definitely a little bit of Darkness in most, at least, if not indeed all of us.
[Just like that Beast inside of her that she finally had a handle on...sort of.]
It's a little necessary to survive in a place like this, however.

[She sighs]
I guess to beat the Darkness, you have to understand it, right? And with that understanding comes accepting the darkness in yourself.

No one's been hassling you or anything, have they? Hahaha?
[Leaning an elbow against the vanity she was sitting at, she leaned her cheek against a hand.]
I used to be afraid of the Darkness, but all in all it's more beneficial if you can conquer it -- heeheehee -- control it.

[She frowns at that.]
That sounds... dangerous.

[ A little nervous 'heh'. ]
My uncle used to say that even at its most difficult, life puts these kinds of hurdles in our way only to make us stronger. To learn to cherish what we already have, and want to hold on to it with everything we've got. It might frustrate you, and it might seem like the world is just -- I don't know, like it's this horrible place where nothing good can happen, but it isn't true. Not really.
Everyone's capable of letting that darkness consume them, but we're also capable of being the light for someone else. Which sounds so, so dumb, but it helps.

[She has to actually smile at that.] Your uncle's a smart man. It feels like I've told someone something like that, myself. I've just never been all that good at following my own advice.
[And the last bit even gets a laugh out of her.] It's not dumb. It's true. People have this habit of walling themselves up and not getting close for fear of hurting others and themselves. They get so caught up in that, they don't realize that risking the pain might be worth it... That being out in the light, even if it burns, might be better than being lonely in the dark.
And no one's ever really safe in the dark. That's why I've never liked it.

[ Another little chuckle. ] Thanks. I always thought so, even if a lot of his advice didn't make sense until I hit college -- but that's just how it usually is, isn't it? You don't realize your parents really do know what they're talking about until you stop thinking that you know everything.
Mm. [ He's never had a problem with the dark -- just the things in it. ] Maybe you should try night-vision goggles?

[Okay, she has to really laugh at that.] I wish things were that simple. [She smiles a bit.] I'm Misato, by the way.

... Having said that, Yako Katsuragi would never be one to turn down an offer for someone else to make food. ] Are you sure you're up to making dinner, though?
