[The screen is totally black since the power is out in his apartment, though as far as he knows there aren't any other issues with it. Not that he couldn't handle it if there were.]
But, seriously, you are way too dramatic.
[He pauses for one second to decide if he should mention this. He knows you enough by now that if he does it might get him dragged into something else. Or questioned. One or the other. Or both.]

Your magic needs to be a secret moreso than mine. You see... I was quite ill, from the time I arrived in this place. I knew I'd probably end up in that state and there are some pretty horrible things here - people that might try to forge you to use your power for them or even use you as an experiment.
[He quirks a sad smile and shrugs a shoulder.]
Besides, just by staying here and helping rain make the sandwiches and putting together the food boxes for us to bring over is a great way to help, don't you think?
