❆006❆ [Video] Around 3pm, after the earthquake

Aug 16, 2011 21:53

[By mid-afternoon, The Cat's Eye has been thoroughly checked - they'd been fortunate. So far from ground zero, they'd only lost some dishes that were rattled off counters and a fair few wine bottles that had shattered. The darkness proofing, luckily, was fully intact.

Which is why there is a now somber mage leaning against the glass storefront, blue ( Read more... )

Barrier? [Naoya looks--curious. When he cast one over the NCC during the riots, it was reinforced...was this the person responsible?]

I don't suppose you're the one who reinforced it over the NCC before, sir Flourite?

Are you referring to the incident that occurred during the fundraiser with the riots, Mister...you know, I don't believe I've ever caught your name.

[He'll just wait for an answer before actually giving an answer.]

I am. And it's Naoya. [His name he'll give--there's only so much Fai can learn from just that.]

... you're the one that set the initial barrier with a blood-seal.

[A statement, rather than a question before he nods. This was just a little truth, easy enough to share.]

I just added another layer of stability to what was already in place.

I am. [He chuckles, letting his eyes close.] I wouldn't sell it short. You're skilled, sir.

On the contrary, I was just saying that you're rather skilled yourself.

[A wry little smile as he looks off to the side.]

Mine was really nothing more than precautionary in the face of unfamiliar magic.

My magic doesn't usually...mingle well with others. [An outgrowth of his own personality, he wonders? Well, he's never had opportunity to fully test that.]

But dodging each other's compliments all night isn't exactly productive. I've not heard from Katsuragi yet, but if you're willing for a repeat performance, it may be best to act quickly.

That's interesting then. Perhaps when the situation has calmed down a bit we can discuss it further, but you're right.

[The hint of a frown touches his face, because Miss Yako had always seemed the get up and get involved type.]

Do you know if she's alright? And were you already planning something or is this a joint effort again? The help could make it a touch less draining.

I'm finding her. Knowing her, she's either too caught up in helping people or she's lost her NV. [She's almost definitely getting into trouble. All the time.]

If the NCC's still standing, then I could probably do something to help with any damage to the darkness-proofing...if it isn't, then a new sanctuary is going to be needed for the time being, and that'll need to be done from scratch. In either case, the more help I can get, the easier it'll be on everyone involved. [Spreading out the weight of the spell. Plus, a good excuse to keep a very...close eye on the darkness itself all night. Awww yeah.]

I can't say anything more specific without knowing the circumstances, of course.

[He's letting on a little more than he should about his own versatility, but he'll sacrifice some mystery for being a little clearer. The circumstances certainly call for it.]

[He chuckles a bit at that, because Miss Yako really does seem to be an endless font of helpful concern from what he can tell. It's just a brief sound, before he nods and glances off to the side, as if looking at someone else.]

In that case, maybe we can meet you at the N.C.C.? We're going to go there shortly regardless to bring some refreshments, but while we're there we can discuss possible alternative locations or set barriers then move on to the Towers.

[All business for the moment - later he can be curious as to just how skilled Naoya is.]

That's the most efficient plan. I'll be there as soon as I find our wayward Katsuragi-san. [Such single-minded determination...remind you of anything, Fai?]

[Just a bit, yes. Not that he'd admit that, mind.]

I'd say that if you haven't found her in about twenty minutes, meet me there anyway and I'll see if I can't locate her.
