Just a quick question, since I guess my question on how time works here was kinda answered...

[Not really and he's still vaguely bothered by it, but then, what could he do?]

So everyone here has some weird ability, or will develop one, but... has anyone actually had-- [A sharp pause. Was a it a good idea to ask?] an ability taken away when they ( Read more... )

I was unaware that was possible.

Taking powers away?

...Or being given powers by the Core? 'Cause I'm still not sure about that one, but there are people here who never had powers at home and suddenly got them here. I mean, it could be that the Core is really good at what it does and takes people before they develop those powers, but... I don't know?

I was unaware of either, though I do believe that the first would be more frightening.

Hmmm, yeah. I was wondering if that happened to people here. Since, you know, the latter happens.

If one is possible, the alternative may be likely. [ Don't go giving her ideas, now ] Though receiving that answer? May be unlikely.

Maybe. But if the first is possible... well, the second seems a lot more popular around this place.

[ And now she's curious, and a little worrisome ] Do you know the range of the abilities?

Um... well, there are all kinds? There was a guy whose voice got really, really loud it actually broke most of the glass in Sector 4 when he yelled. And then there are telepaths and people who can control fire... I don't know. All kinds.

How frightening.

It's-- I guess so. It's kind of normal around here, though.

No doubt something of a comfort to those with abilities. [ She has yet to decide ]

Well, I think people just get used to it.

So if something happens, like all the glass in a sector breaking due to someone's voice, it's just someone's power manifesting and not really anything to worry about.

Hopefully there is nothing more serious.

Well, I think they're working on some kind of program now for kids just developing powers. To, you know, learn to use them in a safe environment.

That would be sensible.

Yeah. Better than suing the school when they don't want to deal with some crazy ability gone awry, anyway.
