Just a quick question, since I guess my question on how time works here was kinda answered...

[Not really and he's still vaguely bothered by it, but then, what could he do?]

So everyone here has some weird ability, or will develop one, but... has anyone actually had-- [A sharp pause. Was a it a good idea to ask?] an ability taken away when they ( Read more... )

I was unaware that was possible.

Probably several programs - SERO has their own, and I'm working on one not just for children. After all - native children are used to the idea, it's Newcomers, children and adults alike, who sometimes aren't.

A program involving what, precisely?

I don't know what SERO's program involves. The one I'm working on is no different than what we used at home - a mix of practical training in using your powers, what legal issues could arise, ethics on how and when to use them, and science or magic behind how the powers work. It's quite flexible and tailored to each person.

A sensible option.

We learned from experience in my world - I'm one of the oldest Mutants.

I am not familiar with that.

Similar people in other worlds are called Metahumans from what I have seen - Mutants are people born with genetic gifts, resulting in superpowers, which begin to appear during puberty. Mutants are a different type of humanity.

I see. Is there a reason as to why it begins at that time rather than any other?

Hormone and other body changes. Second gen Mutants - our children, third gen - our grandchildren, so on - manifest earlier, so even at birth or prior to. There's the theory that it helps protect first gen Mutants until they are mature enough to take care of their-selves, another which states that because of the often radical physiological changes, which often includes a heightened metabolism, that their bodies need to mature a bit first, and another which states Mutants always have active mutations but the first manifestation doesn't appear until puberty because children are often more protected than adults and teenagers and it's stress which brings their powers out - and in second generation and later don't face the same challenges as their parents. [Personally he feels it's a mix of the three - and he's been one of the doctors who have backed all three various points.]

It is a reasonable assumption. [ She may be a chemist but she can understand the basic premise ]

You might be surprised how long it took us to even wonder about it. [But he didn't have a normal childhood, and two people are a poor case study.]

Perhaps not. New phenomenon do take time to adjust to. [ A lady speaking from experience? Maybe. Just different ]

They do. Most so when pressed with other matters.

Yes, the one in the news. But for me...it's just an extension of the school I was planning on anyway. Should be open in time for the new school year. [He KNOWS you are having trouble with the other kids Hope.]
