{Video opens up to Raul sitting at his desk in his office at Lion's Gate, and he gives an extremely faint smile. Extremely faint.]I've realized that it has been awhile since I have been on the network; work has been keeping me busy, what with the new season approaching, and more and more people arriving, I have yet to introduce myself. My name is ( Read more... )

[That hits...so many uncomfortable notes for her and she tries not to let it show.]

Finally, an opening. It's a shame it's come to this for us to gain an opportunity, but it has to be done. We need to look into gaining Newcomers the right to vote as well.

What is it?

[Yeah, he knows. But he really, really hated the Regent. Sorry waifu.]

Unfortunately, but it's not our fault.

Yes, we do. I think for our next meeting, that can be the issue that has the most priority. We need the right to vote, and we need a system to get everyone registered. Having papers ties in neatly with that.

[Private]

I think...I may have a date.

[Everyone did but her, sob.]

I can look into what we need to get papers. I'll bring what I can to the meeting and we can discuss what we can do about it.

[Private]

Oh? With whom?

[HE TRIED TO KILL YOU.]

Also talk to Mr. Wright, he should be looking into papers as well.

Rochelle...I do not know her last name. I believe I asked a woman out without knowing her full name.

Who's going to ally with us?

I mean- seriously. Who in this city really cares about the newcomers besides us. Kids like Hope get beaten up at school all the time for being a newcomer- my friend Namine got one of her drawing books stolen, and those girls just kept bullying her until she hit them. No one does anything for us. Even if they hire us, it's mostly because as newcomers, they don't need to pay us as much, or follow all the same rules.

Mr. Edgeworth says "write letters", and you say "speak up". I don't think that's enough for anyone to really pay attention.

We have to ally with each other. There are those among the native crowd who are most likely too afraid to stand up against anti-Newcomer sentiment; that's always how it goes in politics, even the politics of the schoolyard. In those cases, the downtrodden and those being bullied have to stick together and help each other.

It's maddening, but... it takes time.

I don't even go to school because I'd be sick of all that stuff.

There's not a school for Newcomers only, if the bullying is that bad?

A toppling of one leader, often leads to the toppling of his successor. However, with proper planning and strength, perhaps that can be avoided.

[This is Byakuya's subtle hint to say 'I can help.' Of course, he'd never say that outright.]

Perhaps it can.

I am planning a new meeting with the NPP. When we have figured out a date and a time, I would appreciate it greatly if you could attend.

[An incline of the head, but no change of expression.]

I would be honored. With the closing of classes, I have most afternoons free.

So far it looks like afternoons, either around lunchtime or later, will be the perfect time.

There are openings at Lion's Gate?

Sir, if it wouldn't be too much trouble, I'd like to apply for one of the bartending positions. I'm fully capable to not only work overnight, but also to get off of work, or come in as necessary before and after sirens. As well, I'm trained in hand to hand and can double as security should the need arise.

There are, yes. [Nods.]

We are in need of more bartenders and more security at the moment; I don't see why you couldn't switch off for different shifts. How are you at tending bar?

[She kinda forgets that she's in cutoffs and a ragged t-shirt painting her wall, but straightens anyway. Please ignore the smear of blue paint on her cheek, or the bit of white in her hair. She fails, sometimes.]

I've tended bar off and on for the past five years. Several times that was in a dance club like setting. Currently, I work at the ryokan in sector six. I'm familiar enough with stiff liquors to make suggestions and have memorized over seventy-five mixed drinks. I am hoping to continue to acquire more. My one lack is that despite best efforts, I am unable to suggest wines. I know what I like, not what should and should not be served.

[She's one of Dr. Xavier's people. He understands.]

I think you'll do nicely. And we have an extensive wine list, so you'll have a chance to familiarize yourself with it when you can; otherwise, people tend to know what they want, and we have on menu what is good at the time.

How are you on security? Beside the hand to hand?

One would think it'd be prudent to take the companies out of the process altogether; corporations have no place in politics. They have enough sway when they buy out members of the government.

This... AGI had a number of mocking posters out- I take it they're the group out of favor at the moment?

It would be the right thing to do, but it would also be idiotic to do so. If there is no way to keep them out, then working with them to do the right thing is the best we can do.

Yes, they are. With SERO having the Core, they are the group that has the most to lose.

You are far more optimistic than I. Companies tend to help people only so far as it gets them what they want; once they have that the needs and concerns of the people fall by the wayside.

Of course, that blindness sometimes leads to their downfall, as well.

I've spent most of my time here working on this; optimism comes with a price. I am a realist, more then anything else, and after studying how the companies here work, as well as talking to those in charge of them, I believe I know how to work with them to get what we want.
