This place. How do we know when... someone's dead, or if they've gone home, or if they're coming back, anyway?

What's the difference? I mean, I know there's a difference for the person experiencing it, but... how do people here know? It's like most of the time, people die and we expect them to come back because of the Core. But then, the news ( Read more... )

[He's thinking about this.]

Do you think... that they disappear? Go home?

Death isn't instant Hope. If you have someone or something able to respond during the death...things can be changed.

I know there's a while after the heart stops when you can bring people back.

[He can, at least.]

But then, after that time... I don't know. Where I'm from, that's it. And they're dead; they're not coming back.

But it just... seems different here. It is different here. Are we supposed to just... wait and see? If that's the case, how can anyone even be listed as 'dead'?

There's also a time when the...soul, conciousness, whatever you call it, is passing through the Astral Plane. Telepaths in my world have been able to live for decades, if not longer, there while their physical body has died.

There been cases where people have died here, but their bodies have simply vanished in front of witnesses. Some come back and some don't.

But yes, we just have to wait and see. Regardless, people are listed as die because they die - even in my world, where there is a young woman who is a literal phoenix and returns from the dead.

I-- we didn't have telepaths in my world. I don't think so, anyway. People were just-- [Normal? It wasn't the word he was looking for, though.] ordinary. It wasn't anything like there. No one really had powers.

The vanishing ones probably went home or would come back, then. But there are still so many other cases...

Staying dead is the whole point of dying. This resurrection foolishness is a very bad business indeed.

Indeed. Somebody's not doing their job properly.

Or maybe they're not meant to be dead, like how we're not meant to be here.

Think the coming back to life trick is all ours, kid.

Ours?

Like will power?

Like getting dragged here. Ain't really a choice for anybody; it just happens.

So it's not a choice to get revived?

There has to be... I don't know, some way of figuring out if someone really dies or not.

I guess 'really dies' would mean 'stays dead' here.

Unless we know FOR SURE someone's dead, I say they went home.

escapedpandora April 26 2011, 23:17:51 UTC
But what would for sure mean here? I mean, people have died and then come back to life the next day before.

littlepwny April 26 2011, 23:35:58 UTC
Then... maybe no matter what, they go back home.

That's gotta be it.

...People can still die here. I know that much.
