Kadaj hated waiting. He was far too impatient, far too full of restless energy to sit still for more than a few minutes. The man they were meeting wasn't even late, but Kadaj was already pacing, back and forth, back and forth. The knife that had once belonged to Big Boss occupied his hands, and he toyed with it thoughtlessly, carelessly, cutting grooves into the palms of black leather gloves. Kadaj was on edge, had been for a while. But that was going to be fixed soon.
Shinji, Liquid had called him. A friend, Yaha's roommate, not someone to be trusted but one who had saved his life nonetheless. Someone who might be able to help. While Kadaj didn't believe they needed help, Shinji's relationships with Liquid and Yaha alone made him someone the Remnant wanted to meet. Even if he turned out to be useless, or simply a passing distraction. Even if he served his purpose as little more than fodder to be thrown under the bus at the first opportunity. To Kadaj, the people he liked were as good as property, and he made it his business to know who touched what belonged to him.
The main reason they were here, of course, was something else entirely. Two weeks ago, Yaha had been captured. Yaha was Kadaj's property, so of course, he wasn't going to stand for that. He'd waited long enough already, and now he was going to fix it himself. They were going to get Yaha back.
