Grrrrr!!!

I've been trying to lose less than a pound for four weeks.  Why is it so impossible?!?!  I just can't get myself together and motivated enough to do it, and I'm so frustrated!  I think the biggest source of stress over this is the fact that I've made my weight loss journey so public.  It's great when I lose weight and I have people cheering for me ( Read more... )

You've made huge accomplishments and put a lot of demands on your body (and your mind) in the process. As you lose weight, and the fitter you become, it takes a LOT less calories to keep your body running. You burn less calories. So creating a 1lb deficit ~3500 calories takes a lot more work than it did when your body burnt that just getting up to poop back in the day.

Look at it this way, your body is a lot more efficient now. It's like a Prius. ;)

Just keep plugging away at it, relax a little on the scale fixation, change up whatever work outs you're doing, and see if that helps. You'll get there.

I feel strongly compelled to point out that this journey is FOR and ABOUT only you and if anyone asks "have you made it yet?" it's likely because they're cheering you on. If they have other motivations they can go to screw a monkey. ;) I've read your journey along the way and it's taken courage and dedication to get to where you're at and seriously, if you only ever lost 99 pounds and never hit 100...sorry, but that's still remarkable. Can you measure how much muscle you've gained? How many years you've added to your life? How much less you'll pay in medical expenses because you're healthier? I know there's that pretty, rounded number sticking its tongue out at you, teasing because you're so close...but try to remember that in the end it's just one of many numbers and so many of the above factors are way more important in the grand scheme of things. *hug ( ... )

Thank you. I need to hear things like this. I'm definitely having trouble seeing the forest for the trees, and it's helpful to be reminded that this one pound isn't the be-all, end-all of my weight loss journey. It helps to have people reassure me also that they're not disappointed in me if I take longer than I want myself to take. So again, thank you :) <3
