Title: The Fifth Act

Rating: T for violence.

Summary: FFVII Time-travel. Gen. Cloud has an accident with a Time Materia.

Author's Note:  Been a busy week, but we have a new chapter at last!  Honestly, this chapter could probably still use more work, but I’ve made you wait long enough.  Hope you enjoy it.  Nice and long to make up for the delay.

Ack! Sephiroth, reading is bad for you health! Books are EVIL! ...or at least that's what one of the churches in my area says ( ... )

Yay! Yes, Vincent, do adopt him!

(I love you for that image.)

I know all too well the 'gritting teeth and moving on' maneouvre. Otherwise nothing would ever get posted - it would just get re-written over and over and over again. But... *winces* a few nasty typos still slipped past.

Six pages in 24 hours is actually not too bad! Don't be so harsh on yourself. :)

As for Cloud's sword... a little from column A, a little from column B. He could always steal Zack's sword in a pinch, but I thought it would be a nice way to show Genesis's priorities.

XD I'm torn between picturing Vincent attempting to raise a younger Sephiroth, or the amusement of him adopting a fully-grown man and treating him like a teenager.

...I am embarrassed to admit I totally killed the soldier you could spare. I wanted to be an anti-hero. :| But I did feel bad afterwards.

The main reason I did that was the troopers were dressed just like Cloud used to. I couldn't help but wonder how many other members of ShinRa didn't really know what a monster the company was. (Reeve points this out in the game.)

That being said, killing them seems much more logical then simply letting them roam free without restraints... I'll probably totally killed them the next time I played the game.

Oh when rereading, I noticed something.

Genesis swept his hair out of his hair.

It takes a true professional to sweep one's hair out of their hair; Genesis has been practicing that one for years.

|D;; that one pulled me out of the narrative for a good minute

*facepalm* Hair out of his eyes. I'm so embarrassed. Good catch, thanks Teekoness.

*laughs* It's okay. It's hardest to catch typos in one's own work. We know what it's supposed to say; thus, we mentally fix the words. Believe me, compared to some of my past stories, that is NOTHING.

I used to have an evil English teacher who told us it was cheating to have someone proof-read our essays. Apparently, I should've been kicked out of the class because I did it anyway. I also complained out loud... which oddly enough made him like me.

D: Noooo! There are lots of other good FF7 fic kicking around, I'm sure you'll be fine. If nothing else, I have at least one other fic for the fandom I'm planning to write (if not several).

Ack, another typo! Good eyes, thanks! Fixed now.

If you make that rec list, send me a link! I am feeling the need to do some re-readings of the old greats lately.

That's the tragedy of being picky. Helps when it comes to sifting through the wasteland that is ffnet though!

And yes, do steal your friend's Crisis Core game. No matter how many spoilers you've seen, it needs to be experienced.

*howls* NOOO!! Genesis, don't let him into the library!!! He needs to hear the truth from friends, in the company of friends, when Cloud's fully healed! You can't let Sephiroth go batshit! Argh~ *headdesk*

I can't wait for the next update~! Please keep up the good work!

(Also, was Hojo hoping to trigger the Renunion right then? How?)

Oops, I didn't mean to imply Hojo was going to trigger Reunion right then - just that he wanted to make/see it happen.

*FLAILS* 2 weeks! Oh man, I was so stoked for this chapter and it went beyond my expectations! I thought they wouldn't even make it to Nibelheim. XD

So many things to say about this:

1. Vincent lurking in the shadows. ♥ Close enough to talk, far enough to discourage it. Fantastic characterization.

2. Chibi-Cloud's fanboy crush on Genesis! It's so sweet, and even more so because Genesis is so oblivious while even Zack notices ( ... )

Your original estimate of the pace of coming events was right on the money, but I have been cutting scenes like nobody's business. It got boring otherwise.

Little Cloud's characterisation so often over-emphasises the lack of self-esteem and weak aspect, but I think he MUST have balls of steel! Imagine going around the other side of the world all by yourself at age 14 to join the army! And Crisis Core DMV wheel scenes had Cloud keeping things together in some tough situations. Rescuing Zack from surprise ahriman attacks, even!

Thanks! Hope you like what's in store! <3
