Beer is so amazing and awesome. I've learned how to taste notes in it and I've determined I'm not a fan of super hoppy beers and stouts. Give me a nice golden ale and I'm stoked. I'm happy to take any and all recommendations.
There's tons of awesome local breweries here. One in Durham has a beer made with sweet potato that is delish.

My favorite golden (not technically goldens, but in that mid-range) so far is Avery Salvation, followed distantly by Foret and Devil's Backbone (though DB is kind of sweet.)
If you like malty, rich ones, North Coast's Brother Thelonius Belgian Abbey Ale is one of the best US-made dark Belgians I've had in ages.
Both of those come in 750-ml only, so either split with a friend or make sure you don't have to go anywhere XD
You might also like Dead Guy's Doppelbock, but IDK if it's available in bottles. Probably.
A brewing co-op just opened near our house, and will be serving their own beer soon which I am TOTALLY STOKED about, 'cause if the (bought elsewhere) drafts they have now are any indication, it is going to be BAD ASS. And they serve in 6oz as well as pints, so I can try stuff without getting smashed \o/
THIS IS WHY ONE OF THE RULES IN MY USTREAM IS "DON'T GET ME STARTED ON BEER"
-- Awesome that you are enjoying school and, better yet, figuring out what you want to do with it!
-- Community is the funniest show on TV. I still watch and love Glee, but for pure humor, Community takes the cake. And holy shit do I want to bang Allison Brie; she is so goddamn hot! @_@
I have to admit I don't understand why everyone thinks Alison Brie is so hot. She's average, and not even Hollywood Average, just normal Average. Different strokes for different folks, I guess.
