Mordin had been intrigued by the message left for him on the network. Intrigued and at the same time, cautious. There were only two people on the station who knew his name (as far as he knew. The population was small anyways) and they both would have simply contacted him openly if they needed his help for whatever reason. So, he had come to the hospital, armed as always and walked the empty corridors until he reached the designated room. He paused, assessed the doorway, considered the layouts of the other rooms he had passed, then drew his pistol.

He burst into the room, pistol drawn and pointed, only to come up short at the sight of a turian in a medical gown on the bed. He paused for the briefest of moments as he analyzed him. Recognized him in a second instant. Saren. He leveled the weapon again and took a step forward.

"You sent the message?"

"I did, yes," Saren said, adjusting his position so that he was sitting upright. Hopefully, Mordin would notice that Saren was unarmed, without even as much as an omni-tool emitter on his arm. Sure, Saren was a known biotic, but it was unlikely that Saren could conjure up a mass effect field in the time it would take Mordin to pull the trigger of his pistol even once. The avatar of the Reapers was entirely helpless, and at the salarian's mercy.

"As you can see, Professor Solus, I am alive," Saren began, folding his arms over his lap, and lacing his boney, illuminated fingers of his right hand with the synthetic geth hand of his left arm. "I shouldn't be. I can still feel the bullet exiting the other side of my head, when I took my own life."

Saren's bright blue eyes scanned Mordin's posture. He knew the salarian could shoot him at any time, and frankly, Saren wouldn't be surprised if he did. He should be dead, but he wasn't. But if the salarian hadn't shot him yet, then he had to have been intrigued to some degree ( ... )

"Interesting. Thought that being relocated here was an effect of Omega 4 relay. Must revise that hypothesis now..." He seemed only slightly distracted by this thought before turning his attention back to the turian. After a cursory examination, he holstered his pistol and activated the medical scanner in his omnitool, beginning a quick and thorough scan of Saren.

"Shouldn't be possible based on what we know;--You are dead where, rather, when I am from--indoctrination almost impossible to reverse. Or not. Hmm." All of the implants and modifications made to Saren's body were still there. Perhaps the station blocked the signal? No. They were somewhere beyond their own knowledge of space, perhaps. But human built facility this massive--no, wouldn't work. All these thoughts and more flashed through the doctor's head as he considered the possibilities.

"Can't exactly tell you why without knowing more about you, about the station."

Saren waited patiently while Mordin began his monologue, typical of him, or so he had heard. Being both a turian and a Spectre, Saren was well aware of what Mordin did with the genophage, which was a joint project between turians and salarians from the beginning. It was enough to warrant a fair amount of respect, but only until Mordin became a bit annoying... which thankfully, he wasn't ( ... )
