Saren waited patiently while Mordin began his monologue, typical of him, or so he had heard. Being both a turian and a Spectre, Saren was well aware of what Mordin did with the genophage, which was a joint project between turians and salarians from the beginning. It was enough to warrant a fair amount of respect, but only until Mordin became a bit annoying... which thankfully, he wasn't.

When Mordin finished, Saren blinked slightly in agitation, despite knowing that Mordin was right. It was impossible to tell. Unless...

Saren reached over to a small table next to his bed. He grabbed a small scalpel with his geth arm, and cut a small sliver of flesh from his organic arm, causing him to bleed for a few seconds until the nanides clogged the wound, his unnatural healing process beginning immediately. Saren placed the biopsied flesh in a small plastic cup, and handed it to Mordin.

"This flesh is both organic and synthetic, melded together through Sovereign's nanide injections. Study the nanotechnology in it, if you must. Perhaps you can detect the signal they received. So long as it doesn't touch an open wound, you won't be infected."

Mordin watches dispassionately, one hand moving instinctively to rest on his weapon as he watches Saren move across the room, one eyebrow arched in an inquiring gesture. Then came understanding as he watched the turian cut his own flesh from his arm in what might have been a disturbing display of self-mutilation if Mordin wasn't quite so interested in that sample. He accepted the container and held it up to examine the contents. Fascinating.

"Will see what I can do. Will require time, research, access to data." He carefully sealed the container and stored it away.

"Will take much time to understand nanites, how fusion of your body, Reaper implants work."

Saren nodded. "I will be here, running tests of my own." With that, he returned to his bed, synthetic fibers merging over his wound, with the nanites repairing the flesh that was removed so that his natural skin and the Reaper skin interlaced with one another. Small flesh wounds took only fifteen minutes to heal, but broken bones and organ damage took days to heal depending on the severity of the wound, even with medigel applications. Of course, shots to the head or heart would be fatal as always, as would dismemberment and decapitation.

"Mordin," Saren said, as he crawled back into the hospital bed. "I know that you have no reason whatsoever to treat me. If not to allow me to keep the Reapers from ever invading my mind again, then I ask that you help me in exchange for opportunities to study the Reaper technology in my body."

Saren pulled the covers of the hospital bed over his body, and folded his hands in his lap. "Being indoctrinated was a fate worse than death. If I could have resisted those... infernal signals from Sovereign, I would have. Whether or not you believe me doesn't matter now. Just know that Shepard was right all along."

"Doctor Solus, please." As far as he was concerned, Saren wasn't on a first name basis with him. He held up the sample once more and studied it curiously for a moment. He'd need to get a lab set up, quarantine the sample, run more tests. Still, this was extremely useful. He'd be able to manufacture something more effective against the Collectors, perhaps.

"I will help, of course. No reason not to. Would be unethical not to, if you really are back in your right mind." He looked over at his new patient, looking at him with a naked curiosity that might be unsettling to some.

"Will do my best to figure out what has happened with available data. Good to hear that you have regained your senses and control of yourself. If what you say is true, perhaps cure is attainable." A pause.

"Unless only this station is involved. Hmm. Need more data."

"Then you should find a way to replicate this station's technology. No living being should be forced to go through what I went through as Sovereign's pawn." Saren knew that what he said was rather conceited, but he didn't mind. He leaned back in his bed, and exhaled through his nose. "Thank you, Dr. Solus."

Mordin looked at Saren silently for a moment. The arrogance in that statement was a bit sickening, but that he had such confidence in Mordin's skills was rather gratifying at the same. He tapped his tingers together.

"Will do what I can. No results guaranteed, of course."
