Until he heard some running, of course.
Naturally, he wants to aim at whatever's coming, so he's a little surprised to see a woman running at him quickly. When she stops and shows him she has good intentions, he takes a small sigh and puts his gun down. She could almost be called a "sight for sore eyes"; the last thing he needed was to end up on yet another derelict ship. But what she says doesn't help much.
"Where are we? What is this?"
Not even a Hello, nice to meet you, I'm Lt. Scott, and you are? Nah, he's still a little wigged out.

"We're on a space station called Sacrosanct, in another universe." It's hard to make that sound like a completely normal thing to say, but Olivia manages pretty well. Long experience with things almost this strange probably helps. "There's a rift here in the junkyard that pulls people in from different times and places and universes..."
She briefly glances up at the rift, at the flickering pictures only she can see. Right now it's showing a battle on horseback, men with swords and armor - the rift's already moved on from wherever this man came from. She sighs and looks back to him.
"And I'm afraid at the moment, there's no way back."

Again? he thought. Of course, his first thoughts were of his family and friends. Chloe, Matthew, Colonel Young, Eli...but he couldn't lose himself now. He forced himself back and to swallow this bitter pill.
"No way back? I take it you've tried."
Okay, that was a little snappy. This woman didn't seem to be like she meant to harm him. She just seemed, well...helpful. So he relaxed a little more, brought himself back to who he really was: a nice guy. An accepting guy.
"I'm Lt. Scott. What's your name?"
That's better.

"No, but I'm trying to figure it out," she answers, pointedly calm and reasonable. She doesn't actually say she's not the enemy here, but her tone certainly implies it.
She softens a little when he introduces himself. "Agent Dunham. Olivia, if you'd prefer. Listen, we should probably move somewhere else - there's a lot of radiation in this area, and there are things other than people that come through the rift, so it's not exactly safe to hang around. There's a medical bay nearby if you hurt yourself when you came through..."

"I had no idea."
He looked back up at it, this creepy rift thing she was talking about, but (ooc: might be god-moding the rift) it just seemed like the space flickered as if the light moved through an unknown heat source, wavering back and forth.
"Actually, yeah, I did...right here." He lifted his hand to his left eyebrow. Not a whole lot of blood, but who knew what kind of micro-organisms could be hanging onto this junk. He gestured to nowhere, indicating he hoped she'd lead the way.
"Agent Dunham. Nice to meet you. Sorry it was such...iffy circumstances."
Agent Dunham. He liked that. He wondered if she was a cop or some other kind of nifty Dick Tracy PI kind of person. He's never known many people with such a job.

"No need to apologize. I actually can't remember the last time I met someone under normal circumstances, to be honest..."
