Sleeping had been insultingly simple, pressed in with four other people, tangled up together in an awkward mess of limbs. Still, the presence and contact had been enough to send him off without a second thought ( ... )

Hands go limp, the fighting stops, and the edges of his vision start to go back. Starscream pushes again, this time pushing him through, and he's surrounded now by nothing but water. Sinking. His limbs frozen, too jammed to move. Just like before. Just like before, he's sinking and there's nothing he can do but let it happen as he feels his life sap away, losing a little bit with every breath. He's breathing water, he knows he's going to die. He should be dead now. He should be. Skyfire hits bottom and he can feel the sand wisp through his fingers as he stares up at the light filtering down through the distant surface. He can almost make out the two figures watching from above, Starscream, leaning over to peer down, and Soundwave, with his hands still covering his ears.

All he can think about is how unfair it all is.

There's someone else? To be honest, he'd completely forgotten this was supposed to happen. His dreams never go this way. She seems foreign and suddenly he's acutely aware he is dreaming. The damages are miraculously gone and he can stand as the ghosts of the past dissipate.

He's never been able to control a dream before, but now that he's aware of it...

Skyfire stares down at her, winks twitching in their sockets.

"Who are you?" He'd ask to forgive his not being very formal, but he's not entirely sure if she's real or not.

Optics shutter in confusion.

"This... isn't real. I'm dreaming, aren't I?"
