Is the arbitrary celebration of your birth so important?

I have people that I like to be with during arbitrary celebrations.

But why are they important?

In the grand scheme of things, they're not. They recognize the fact that you're getting older, but you grow whether you recognize it or not.

I have been making some observations on the subject, though unfortunately I don't have the answers to any of your questions. It may be random, but there are definite patterns at work here.

What are the rest of your observations so far?

The majority of people here appear to come from times and places undergoing crises of one sort or another. Even those who don't tend to be trained or otherwise equipped to deal with dangerous situations.

This is just my impression, of course, but I do think there may be something to it.

... No, I see what you mean. This might not be as random as it appears.

Arrivals and departures tend to cluster.

Not from times or places, just in general. There will often be several exits and arrivals occurring together.

'Isolated' disappearances are less random than they seem.

Can you give examples? I've noticed the arrival clusters, but not the departures.
