WTF, LJ? What. The. Fuck.

Seriously.

You're completely changing the design without prior notice, which results in LJ being down - again, without prior warning.

Now that the deed is done, there still is no official announcement.

You want feedback on what I think about the new design and the way you treat your paying customers?

You can change back to the old version. You know that, right? Go here for info: http://angelita26.livejournal.com/118300.html

I contacted LJ Support - Instructions here for how to get the old page back. Whew.

I refused to accept the new design - I immediately said I want the old version back. I do see glimpses of what the new design looks like though because LJ keeps switching to it with a pop up window asking me if I don't want to change. *shakes fist* Hideous.

But I'm glad there's a way to change back to the old version! Go you! :)

Yeah, it's not good. I complained about the look of it and then specifically, the fact that the LJ cut text no longer appears on the Friends page. I was told that in the new design, they have removed the cut text from the Friends page but not the individual journal or community pages. They don't know if they will add it back to the Friends page or not. Which is fucking ridiculous.

Okay, I gotta ask. I don't really understand this cut text thing. (I immediately switched back to the old version and thus I don't quite know about all the disadvantages of the new one ;)

ETA: Sorry, me again. I think I understand now. I thought there was some problem with the lj cut, but (like you said, and I kind of didn't read it carefully enough) it's the lj cut *text* that doesn't appear anymore. So it's just showing three dots?

It's very tumblr-esque.

Which is why I hate it. If I wanted Tumblr, I'd be on Tumblr. Sheesh!

Holy crap that giant typeface and not feeling I'm seeing things at a glance or taking in the landscape of the page or entry...
What a truly horrible reading experience. The giant type alone... It doesn't feel like reading, it doesn't flow, how incredibly awful. Blocky, utilitarian, too large...

Thank you angelita26 for providing the link to the instrux. I got it done on my desktop and the change-back showed up on my iPad as well. Whew.

Well, I'm not a paying customer, so I guess I don't have a lot of grounds to complain, but I totally agree. I immediately switched back to the old version. But that probably won't be possible indefinitely.

I remember vimeo changing it's design (though that was a long time ago) and lots of people hated it, and I still think the old version was better. And at the beginning you could always switch back to the old version, which I always did, but then a few weeks later, everyone *had* to use the new version and the old simply wasn't available anymore.

I always think I'm getting old when websites change their design, because I pretty much always hate it. I really can't remember a time where I thought "Oh, great! A new and better design!". Also, you never find anything anymore -- why do they have to always change where certain buttons are? Just so that I have to search the whole website to find it again?
