To be taken with a huge grain of salt, but...

Matty was at SXSW a few days ago to promote "Space Station 76" (and ZOMG, I cannot wait to see that movie!), and during one of the many wonderful interviews he gave, he kinda sorta spilled the potential beans about the future of White Collar.

Here's the link to the interview vid: http://uinterview.com/news/matt-bomer-and-marisa-coughlan-talk-spaceRead more... )

white collar, vid, fingers crossed!, matt bomer

Like you I find this silence more irritating than truly worrisome (though everyone freaking out is kinda worrying me more than I would if I wasn't seeing those reactions)

I'm kind of sad about the "last season". 6 is a good run, but I'm not sure I'm ready to see it end yet.

Yeah. Frustrating and irritating, and folks flipping their shit regarding the lack of definite news personally irritated me even more.

I think that they're just running out of ideas how to keep things going. I personally loved the "back to season 1" feel of S5, but they can't continue to rehash the same thing over and over again. I wish we could have WC for 20 years *g* but that's just unrealistic. :(

True, true.
I loved the character exploration of season 5. Well, I loved about everything in season 5, to be honest.
And after all the drama of that season, I think it would seem natural and logical that the boys get passed it all, and work hand in hand and with as much trust as they can until Neal's release. I would really love for the last season to be lighter and rid of all the previous conflicts, to end the journey.

I was actually starting to wonder how long we had left until it'd run its course during season 4. But season 5 restored my faith in the series. But as a global arc, it would seem right to me, to move forward now.

I agree that there's only so many times you can play the trust issue, and I think it'd be time to move on. (unlikely to happen, but one can dream, right?)

Also, I'd rather cry the lose of my show for years than seeing it turn into another House where I felt relieved it was coming to an end.

(and LOL totally agree about "folks flipping their shit" ;-) )

Well, they (un)officially announced a shortened season 6 a few hours ago, so...ta-da. :)

I guess they'll focus on resolving the kidnapping, add some comfort after the hurt to feed the fangirls, and then set Neal free.

It's nice to have more WC, but I'm kinda sad to see it's apparently only six eps...

Sounds like S6 is a go to me, then.

He wouldn't have said something that specific, esp since we know that he's got the Monty Cliff biopic in the hopper, too.

It does sound like it, doesn't it? *crosses fingers*

(Of course, they're only doing this to taunt me. Now that I've booked my flight, they can screw with me. *shakes fist*)

According to the Monty producer, they're still in the very early stages. There's a revised script (not the final draft). They haven't even talked about any of the other cast yet. Cannot wait to see that pic though, once it gets made!

I can't help but wish the Monty pic was more about his relationship with Jerome Robbins than his obsession with Liz Taylor.

I know! You and me both! :(

And I'm a bit surprised actually because I honestly thought that Matty would push in that direction. Ah well.

I'll take the optional because in my opinion it's a huge amount of Jeff Eastin's letting down his baby that's the cause of all this mess ( ... )

JE has the attention span of a fly, sadly. He's got a shiny new toy so he doesn't care about WC anymore.

The thing though is that it's less JE and more USA Network vs. Fox TV Studios (see below comment from Doc for more info). Both are decision makers in this. If they can't find common ground, the show is doomed. They both wanted to continue, but they wanted different things. Now it looks as if Fox prevailed (a season vs. a mini-series or TV movie) and will likely shoulder some of the costs (as USA wasn't willing to shell out money for an entire season).

Now we can only continue to wait and hope. :)

I am hopeful, especially because Matt seems to be pretty careful with what he says ( ... )

I totally get what you mean, and I'm 100 percent behind everything you've said (esp. re: Willie). I do think that, at the time, the cast honestly expected to start as usual and were derailed by the stalled renewal talks that only got worse over time. I also think that Willie might honestly not know anything atm (he seems very honest and straightforward with his fans on Twitter) and that Matty just has more pull and gets any info first.

Either way, they're gonna have to announce something by the end of April, since the cast is optioned until then. If they don't get a definite yes to S6 by then, they're gonna look for other jobs...

So, let's continue to cross our fingers!

They (un)officially announced a shortened season 6 a few hours ago. :) It's only six eps (which makes me wonder if that's not more of a mini-series, but whatever) so it's bittersweet to me. Yay, more WC. Boo, only six eps. :(

Thanks for the info. I was a little worried after the Deadline article but I find the whole thing more irritating than anything too. And people's reactions to the non-news were irritating me too ( ... )

They (un)officially announced a few hours ago that there'll be a shortened six season (six eps only).

In an article I read ages ago it was implied that they had an idea how to resolve Neal's kidnapping (that the whole set up was planned by TPTB, not a cliffhanger to be figured out later). I'm guessing S6 will be about the resolution and Neal will be set free. Or something.

Still, kinda sad to see it's only six eps...

Yeah, I saw the article. I am not happy about only 6 eps but I am happy they are giving the show a proper conclusion.

I hadn't read that but I do remember reading they had changed the ending for S5 at one point. I am sure they had an idea where they wanted to go with the storyline when they came up with it. Jeff Eastin has said before that he knows how he wants the show to end.

According to TV Line S6 will be about resolving Neal's kidnapping and tying up other lose ends. I figure the last episode will be Neal getting off anklet, whether the end of his sentence or getting an early release. Unless he gets of the anklet in an earlier ep and the last one is about what he is doing now.
