If you don't mind paying for the full version, LastPass is a really good browser and phone app for passwords. Also, since it's encrypted, it keeps them in a tidy place for you. You can even include payment details and such. I've been using it for years now.
Oh, honey, why do those words from our childhood echo forever in our brains? I still hear the words of my parents and even some of my grammar school teachers and I'm going to turn 59 in July. I'm so sorry. It is a burden. There's a certain monkey-see, monkey-do-ness, too, that we inherit from what we've patterned in childhood. Blue collar? Maybe just practical, maybe just a need to keep your hands occupied or your brain occupied. Maybe your mom has something else going on that doesn't allow her to just sit down for the length of a movie
