Prosperity Challenge - 11.2 (Days/Years 31-33 - Koepple)

Happy late Halloween! Maybe if I get organized, my sims can start having holidays.

Though she tried hard not to let it show, pregnancy was taking its toll on Anabel. The hormones, the swollen ankles - it was all starting to feel like too much to handle on her own. It bothered her that her family and friends had so readily accepted her lie about the baby's father - she knew exactly who he was. There was only one candidate!

When little Marcelene was born at last, Anabel knew that her plan to keep her father a secret was never going to work. He was looking right out of her face with those eyes. She knew it was time to tell him the truth.

"Ian...Marcelene is your daughter," she blurted one morning, after Rochell had left for work. "I just thought you should know."

"Oh come on, Anabel," he snorted. "You said yourself you didn't know who the father was - and we always used protection. I don't see why I should believe you."

"I said that because I thought it would be too weird for her, having a dad who was also her...step great-grandfather, or whatever you are. We never even told anyone else about us - how could I announce that I was having your baby?"

"Everyone knows you've woohooed half the town. Eye color doesn't prove anything. I don't want to be trapped into being a father just because you're regretting being a single mom." With that, he stormed out of the room.

"Woohooed half the town...look who's talking!" Anabel muttered to herself. "We don't need him, do we Marcelene? He'll just have to move out, and you and me and Rochell are going to have a great time together." The baby gazed at her out of his eyes, and her heart clenched.

That night, Ian found himself on the receiving end of a lesson from a very angry ghost. Though Marilyn could no longer speak, her message was quite clear - "Do right by my granddaughter, or I'll kick your ass, ghost or no ghost."

He wasn't scared of Marilyn, he told himself, but he did realize that he was an idiot. Sure, "everyone" knew that Anabel was a party girl, but he'd lived with her for years and he had to admit he didn't know when she'd have found the time for so many lovers that she couldn't keep the father of her child straight. And Marcelene did look an awful lot like pictures of him as a baby.

After apologizing, he and Anabel reached an agreement. They would raise Marcelene together, but keep her relationship to him secret for now. As she got older, they would decide what to tell her. Rochell would never understand their strange relationship, so it was best to keep her in the dark.

They did occasionally find it exciting (and funny) to take risks, though. Anabel lost count of how many times she had to pretend she'd dropped her contact to explain her sudden jump off the couch.

Marcelene grew and grew, and her main interest seemed to be in Abby, not in who her father was. She called Ian "Een" and seemed content with that.

It's winter in Winterfell! My first snowman...

Yes, Ian and Anabel have been carrying on almost since the day she became an adult. I found it kind of icky, what with his marriage to her late grandmother, Marilyn, and his role as a father figure to her, but with ACR there was no keeping them apart.
